'DWTS' Results Recap: Melissa Gilbert Hurt More Than Her Head (VIDEO)

melissa gilbert dwtsAs this season of Dancing With the Stars progresses, real talent is definitely starting to emerge among the contestants, along with some real drama on and off the ballroom floor. What is it about this season that is causing cast members to fall and injure themselves, both mentally and physically?

From Jaleel White's rumored infamous temper to Maria Menounos's fractured foot, and then the whole deal with Melissa Gilbert winding up with a concussion and whiplash after dancing the paso doble last night, this group has had their fair share of mishaps. Although she wasn't there tonight because she's still recovering at home, Melissa did make it through to next week, so hopefully we'll see her back on the dance floor next Monday.

But tonight's show proved that her head wasn't the only thing that got hurt in that fall.

Did anyone else catch the behind-the-scenes comments made about Maksim Chmerkovskiy right after he and Melissa fell during their dance? Derek Hough said, "He's gonna be so pissed" -- meaning Maks was going to be mad at Melissa for falling during their performance.

Really? People expected him to be pissed at her for falling? If that's true, then it sure sounds like the bruise to his ego was a lot worse than the injuries Melissa suffered. And after seeing his somewhat nonchalant reaction when asked about his partner getting hurt, somehow I kind of believe the whole idea of him being upset about the fall. I hope he's got a nice apology waiting for her when (and if) she returns to the show.

And I guess that brings us to who wound up going home. It came down to Roshon & Chelsea, and Sherri & Val, neither of which deserved to go home. (How in the heck did Gladys Knight sneak past these two?)

Sadly, Sherri Shepherd was sent packing this week, and I couldn't help but feel terrible for her. She showed true class after having the strength to encourage others to go after their dreams, even through her tears. She will be missed.

We won't see Sherri again on DWTS, but will we see Melissa Gilbert come back? You can watch the paso doble where she hit her head in the video clip below.

Would you want to continue on with DWTS after suffering whiplash and a concussion like Melissa? And did Sherri Shepherd deserve to go home?
