Watch Melissa Gilbert's 'DWTS' Paso Doble That Ended in Whiplash & a Concussion (VIDEO)

Dancing With the Stars cast member Melissa Gilbert is resting and recovering this morning after suffering a head injury during the paso doble she danced with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy on last night's show.

She seemed fine right after their performance, but midway through the show, she started feeling dizzy, so she was carried down the steps by Gavin DeGraw (aww!) and taken to the hospital to be checked out. As it turns out, she hit her head at some point during the dance and wound up with whiplash and a mild concussion.

Viewers were surprised to hear that she'd been injured, probably because no one really noticed when she hit her head while the dance was underway.

If you pay close attention to the video clip below, you can see where Melissa's head came in contact with the dance floor about 46 seconds into the performance.

Did you catch it? Did it even look like she hurt herself? I had a tough time seeing it. I never would've noticed that anything had happened if the news of her hospitalization hadn't come out this morning.

Head injuries are nothing to mess around with, and I've often sat and cringed while watching the cast members on DWTS get twirled around with their heads nearly hitting the floor. It's always made me a bit uncomfortable and nervous for them, and Melissa's incident proves I'm not crazy for getting the jitters.

Supposedly host Tom Bergeron is going to update us on Melissa's condition on the DWTS results show tonight. Hopefully she recovers quickly and will be back to show off her fancy footwork next week!

Do you think some of the routines on DWTS are a bit too dangerous for inexperienced dancers?
