'Real Housewives of Atlanta' Finale Recap: A Merciful End to a Sorry Season

Kandi BurrussIt was without much (if any) fanfare and a healthy dose of relief that this season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta came to an end tonight. Never in any city, with the exception of the atrocity that was The Real Housewives of Miami, do I ever remember an entire season filled with so little ... of anything.

Case in point, the opening scene showed Cynthia Bailey and NeNe Leakes shopping for a bed. Bravo is getting pretty desperate to fill an hour when that's their opening scene in the finale. And that was after they wasted time recapping the entire season in which nothing happened.

Oh, there was Kim Zolciak's gift to her fiance Kroy -- a Porsche, oh joy! And NeNe's friend John is creepy enough to be mildly entertaining, but seeing him give her a $30,000 Rolex just makes me think he's insane.

Other than that, I think we were supposed to be shocked and entertained enough by Kandi Burruss's sex toys and the subsequent launch party for her business, because that's pretty much all that was left of the episode. It was one big advertisement for Bedroom Kandi.

Only we'd already heard about her little lipstick vibrator and the one that keeps time to music. Nothing new there, except a look at a bunch of crazy women handling them and squealing. It wasn't just the ladies we know getting bondage-inspired massages by half-naked men either. Turns out Kandi invited the entire Twitterverse, so everyone could get a first-hand look at her toys. Cocktails might have helped, but alas there were none.

One of the most entertaining parts of the episode was when the credits rolled, and updates were given on everyone's current lives and their new businesses. Kandi and her sex toys, Cynthia's full modeling classes, NeNe's businesses, Kim's wedding, Phaedra's new makeup line for the dead ... but the only thing they could seemingly find to say about Sheree Whitfield was that one year after ground had been broken on Chez Sheree, it was still on hold. That kind of serves her right if you ask me.

Regardless of how boring tonight was, the previews for the reunion next week look surprisingly heated. Maybe they're harboring more issues than they've shown us to date and will let loose with something interesting, but I'm not holding my breath. And if they drone on about the whole black baby incident the whole time, it's just going to be painful.

What do you think will happen on the reunion next week? Will you tune in to find out?
