Clint Eastwood’s Family Has a Reality Show: Go Ahead, Ruin Our Day

There are plenty of aging Hollywood action stars who seem perfectly suited for a cheesy reality show that attempts to turn their unconventional personal lives into public entertainment. Steven Seagal, for instance. Mickey Rourke. Nicolas Cage. Val Kilmer. But Clint Eastwood? Clint Eastwood, the baddest of the bad, the coolest of the cool, is going to have a reality television show?

Sadly, it's true—although it sounds like this bright idea was cooked up by his wife rather than Clint. Presented by E! and titled Mrs. Eastwood & Company, the show is described as "unprecedented look at the surprisingly normal extended and blended family behind one of Hollywood's most iconic superstars."

E! promises that the show will deliver "fascinating personalities who have compelling stories and unique points of view," but personally, I'm reminded of a famous quote from the man himself:

"You want a guarantee, buy a toaster."

Mrs. Eastwood & Company will primarily focus on Clint's wife, Dina Eastwood, and their two daughters, Francesca, 18, and Morgan, 15. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the famous 81-year-old actor/director will only make occasional guest appearances on the show—although we can all hold out hope that there's at least one scene of him pulling a gun on anyone who tries to stick a camera in his face.

In addition to following the Eastwood family around, the other stars of the series are Overtone, a South Africa-based all-male six-member vocal group. Dina Eastwood apparently discovered Overtone when she was in South Africa while Clint was filming Invictus, and she was so convinced by their star potential she re-located all six men to Carmel, California, and became their manager.

Ahhhhh, okay. This is making a little more sense now. Clint's wife wants more publicity for Overtone, so that's probably why they're doing the show. (Well, that and I'm sure the teenage daughters are all over this opportunity.) Also, reality show producers must have jumped at the idea to not only bag the Eastwood name, but have the ability to include the hilarious hijinks of a South African group adjusting to life with their new A-lister family. According to Dina, Overtone had only been in America for three days when one member accidentally crashed Clint's brand-new Mercedes into a grocery store! Ha ha ha! It's funny because it's Clint Eastwood! Are you feeling lucky now, punk?

(Overtone: Ummm, yes. Actually, yes we are. Very much so.)

Here's a look at Dina's pet project performing at Eastwood's Mission Ranch:

They sound pretty good, don't you think? Well, here's hoping that Mrs. Eastwood & Company turns out to be a positive experience for the band, if not so much for Clint. It's set to debut on E! on May 20, and has been picked up for 10 episodes to start.

What do you think about this new reality show? Will you be watching?
