Bethenny Frankel's Talk Show Resurrection Shows Her Staying Power

Bethenny Frankel Calling all the smug naysayers who smirked and snickered when news came out late last year that though Bethenny Frankel had shopped around a talk show, no one wanted it. There were cries of overexposure and that the world had perhaps had enough of the blunt-talking Skinnygirl. I'm sure more than one of her former cast mates from The Real Housewives of New York (cough Jill Zarin cough) got a good laugh at her expense when it was dead ... or so they thought.

Now Bethenny is getting the last laugh (or at least the laugh of the moment), because she and her talk show aren't going anywhere expect on air. That's right, Bethenny has landed a spot for her "girlfriend-type" talk show on Fox. So there.

She took to her website yesterday to announce the big news in a post titled "My Big News":

I have exciting news for you guys! The queen of too much information is coming to DAYTIME! It is going to be an exciting journey and I can't wait for you to join me. Thanks for being so loyal and supportive, without you, this wouldn't be happening. See you all this summer on Fox!

Okay, so it's just a test run to see how she does, but still. According to The New York Times, the show, titled Bethenny, will appear in some New York and California markets for six weeks this summer. Then, if all goes well, it could spread beyond. Hopes are high.

Hilary Estey McLoughlin, the president of Telepictures, which produces syndicated shows for Warner Brothers to distribute, called Bethenny "one of the most talked about personalities out there." She went on to say, "She’s had late-in-life success, which I think makes her a real role model for women.”

I hate to hear that someone in their late 30s/early 40s is "late in life," but point taken nonetheless.

Anyway, it's great news for Bethenny fans and a nice in-your-face to some others. Of course, now she faces a lot of pressure, but I think she can take it, especially with Ellen DeGeneres as a general producer. And besides that whole weird stranded boat thing she did, I think people still really like her and want more.

Knowing Bethenny (or knowing her as well as I can from the comfort of my couch), she will blow this thing out of the water, and she'll be on across the country before we know it. Let's hope so anyway.
