'Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood' Recap: Tori Goes to Extremes to Conceal Pregnancy

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermottThis week on Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, Tori was still on her mission to hide her baby bump as well as a mission to take over the world. With just one week left in the first trimester of her third pregnancy, she was determined to finish it out and make the announcement on her own rather than having the press scoop her. But she was “burdened by the bump” as she and her family headed to New York for some work and some family time.

In attempting to become the next Martha Stewart, Tori is leaving no business opportunity alone. From launching a new craft line, to trying to save her kids’ clothing line, to designing purses and writing another book, she is doing it all and was all over New York taking care of business.

When she got to the Today show, she was almost busted. She thought she was home free while talking to Kathie Lee and Hoda until their final question about pregnancy rumors. When Kathie Lee asked if they were expecting, you could see Tori's face fall. I thought she was going to cave and come clean, but instead she flat out lied and denied being pregnant at all. No lightning struck her, but she did feel bad about it after the fact.

Family time was sweet -- literally, with lots of sugar. Dylan’s Candy Bar, Serendipity for frozen hot chocolate, and grandma Candy Spelling was in for a hyped-up version of her grandchildren and the crashing aftermath. Despite that, it was actually really sweet to see Tori and her mom bond again after all of their troubles. I think Tori said “I love that we’re spending family time” and “I love that my mom is here” about a zillion times.

Overall it was a good a trip, but toward the end they got word that Life & Style would be running a story on her pregnancy the following week, thereby pressuring Tori to make her own announcement. She wasn’t happy. “It’s going to be a poop storm,” she said.

I understand her being a bit frustrated by not being able to announce their pregnancy on her own terms, but really, is it that big of a deal when they’re this far along? You have to accept a certain amount of intrusion into your personal life when you invite people in to the extent they do. So hearing her whine about it -- for two entire episodes now -- got a little old. However, I tried to give her a little slack since she was pregnant and all, and I fully believe it’s a pregnant woman’s right to complain about pretty much anything.

And at least she realizes that despite it all, she’s incredibly lucky and wouldn’t trade any of it for anything. And that’s a big part of why we like her so much.

Do you find it surprising just how many businesses Tori Spelling is involved in? Do you think she’s too whiny or justified in her frustration about the press finding out about her pregnancy?
