'Real Housewives' Husband an Even Bigger Dirtbag Than We Thought

Russell and Taylor ArmstrongLast week Russell Armstrong tried to claim his abusive behavior toward his soon-to-be-ex wife, Taylor Armstrong, was all the fault of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. We told you then he was a dirtbag with or without the show, and new evidence proves just how right we were.

Long before Real Housewives was even a twinkle in Bravo's eye, big Russell was abusing the ladies. Not one, but two of his exes -- one ex-wife and one ex-girlfriend -- previously filed restraining orders against him, according to RadarOnline.com.

The first case goes back to 1997 when his wife, Barbara Armstrong, was six months pregnant. Yes, pregnant. Her allegations:

Russell threw me to the ground and slapped me across the face ... the police were called to Russell's and my residence during our marriage because Russell hit me, blackened my eyes, kicked me in the back, threw crystal drinking glasses at me, and spit on me.

What a guy. He pleaded guilty to battery charges and agreed to attend anger management classes. Apparently those didn't work, because a subsequent girlfriend, Claudia Haro, claimed that he not only hit his son from his relationship with Barbara, but also hit her. Her complaint:

[He] hit me in the face so hard that my neck snapped back ... I got out of Russell's car and dialed 911. However, I was put on hold. I was standing next to Russell's car with my cell phone in my hand when he walked around the car, pulled my cell phone out of my hand, and he broke it by pulling the top part of my flip phone off. Russell then grabbed both of my wrists so hard that it hurt.

What I want to know is if Taylor knew about these allegations before she married him. She revealed on the show last year that she grew up in a violent household and has volunteered for domestic abuse causes over the years, so it would be hard to believe she did know and married him anyway. Then again, maybe not.

There are two sides to every story, and Russell's attorney told RadarOnline.com he wasn't convicted of any charges and "categorically denies the seven-year-old allegations from the family law proceeding." So I suppose there's a chance all these women just happen to be making up the same kind of allegations and that he's really a stand-up guy, but that's probably about as likely as Taylor's lips being real. Thank goodness she left him.

Are you surprised to hear these previous abuse allegations against Taylor Armstrong's husband, Russell?
