Italy Isn't Fist Pumping Over 'Jersey Shore'

jersey shoreYou'll never guess who's angry about the Jersey Shore. Just kidding! Yes you can. The Italians, of course. Apparently, the trashtastic show just started airing in Italy and viewers over there are embarrassed and ticked off that the cast of characters on the reality show embodies some of the less than flattering Italian stereotypes.

Uh oh, Italy. Don't close up that wound just yet. Season four of the show is going to be filmed on Italian soil. Yup. That means those tanned Guidos and Guidettes are packing up their over-priced designer duffel bags and hopping a plane to the "homeland." Chh chh chh chh. That's us, shaking the salt. Sorry.

So what did some Italian viewers have to say about the show?

The New York Post gathered up some choice quotes from our Italian friends, and they're not pretty. Not that they should be.

Roberto Del Bove from the New Notzie in Rome said: "They embody the worst stereotypes of Italians, multiplied by thousands and Americanized." Another Roman newspaper, the Corriere della Sera, describes the GTL-loving eight-some as having "slicked hair, exaggerated narcissism, boundless love for the family, and outlandish eccentricity."

One particularly harsh commenter on the Jersey Shore's Italian MTV website shared: "When I see this, I wonder whether [Osama] Bin Laden had a point."

It's only a matter of time until they find out about The Real Housewives of New Jersey, right? The reviews out of Italy are not going to be favorable for that show, either. Let's just kill two reality shows with one Italian stone and send both the cast of Jersey Shore and RHONJ over to Rome to battle for their lives in the Colosseum. If they're so proud of their Italian heritage, then let's see them fight some chained lions. The Italian equivalent of Bravo's Andy Cohen will be the modern-day Lucius Aurelius Commodus Antoninus and will give a thumbs up or thumbs down to either save the big-haired stars or destroy them.

I'm not sure what I would watch on TV (the news?) if Commodus has them killed, but maybe Italy will be happier.

Do you think it's a good or bad idea to film Jersey Shore in Italy?
