Hey TV Police, Lighten Up -- It's Just Sex

GQ Glee coverThere's always that group of folks that seems to ruin the fun for everyone else. It's like they sit around and plot about what they can bitch about next. When it comes to entertainment, the Parents Television Council (PTC), aka pop culture Nazis, are those people, zapping the entertaining aspect right out of entertainment.

Their latest rant is (of course) about the Glee photo shoot in GQ magazine.

“It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on Glee in this way. It borders on pedophilia."

Pedophilia? Are you kidding me? Not only are the actors way above age (Michele and Agron both 24, Monteith, 28), but it's in GQ magazine -- not exactly a page-turner for your 8-year-old. Not to mention, the whole "sexy schoolgirl" bit has been around since practically the dawn of time (cavewomen totally surprised their husbands by wearing short Catholic girl skirts).

At this point, I think they're just stirring up trouble for publicity purposes, ranting on everything from the 'Britney/Brittany' Glee episode, to Miley Cyrus's new video, to shows targeted specifically to adults like South Park.

Hey PTC, do the rest of us a favor and shut the hell up.

I would hate to be a child of one of these modern day monks. I can just picture preteens having to cover their eyes in the grocery store line because their mom deems the covers as "inappropriate." Yes, because those preteens do not know about sex, and when they do find out, it will be on their wedding night when they're trying to procreate. Yes, that is how society works.

Sure they may have a right to complain about some instances (the Katy Perry/Sesame Street drama did have a point in that it was a show strictly for children, even if it was blown completely out of proportion), but to cry censorship for the pages of an adult magazine? Or a video on MTV? Move along.

What do you think of the PTC's complaints? Do they make a point or are they just whining?
