Lady Gaga Vs. Eminem: Who Will Get the Top VMA? Only Kanye Knows ...

The MTV Video Music Award nominations have been announced and, not surprisingly, Lady Gaga cleaned up, earning a grand total of 13 nods including two for Video of the Year (for "Bad Romance" and her collaboration with Beyonce on "Telephone").

Eminem -- whose "Not Afraid" video is also up for Video of the Year -- followed close behind with eight nominations. I'm pulling for him, not only because I'm a huge fan but also because I'd pay money to see Kanye West butt in on his acceptance speech:

Can you even imagine?

Yo, Eminem. I'm really happy for you. I'm going to let you finish. But Gaga and Beyonce have one of the best videos of all time!

I guessing if Kanye were to pull a repeat of his little stint this year, Eminem wouldn't be nearly as nice as Taylor Swift was ... Am I right?

Eminem's already grumbling about the awards show, saying:

Apparently, MTV doesn't care that I have two massive stadium shows on the other side of the country the day after the VMAs. F me, right?!?! ... I mean, I'll be there, but don't expect me to be nice about it."

OK, he was joking; still, I wouldn't want to cross him.

Truth be told, I don't think we have anything to worry about: Lady Gaga has dominated the music charts all year long; she's the first female artist ever to be nominated for two different clips in the Video of the Year category; and she has more nominations in one year than any other artist before her.

As you can see, Gaga is pretty much a shoo-in, although the other Video of the Year nominees are also strong contenders: Florence and the Machine for "Dog Days Are Over," 30 Seconds to Mars for "Kings and Queens," and B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams for "Airplanes."
