'Entourage' Recap: Let's Talk About Sex

entourage sasha greyIf last week's episode was any indication, we could be heading into an Entourage bubble, the likes of which we've also seen in the housing and cupcake markets

Ari is chasing clients again, Johnny's got his gun up about something, Turtle's got another business proposition, and E is micromanaging. Gotta say, the only fresh offerings this week were Mrs. Ari, played by the always sexy and often half-naked Perrey Reeves, with her limitless collection of sexy sex-wear, and newcomer sexy sex goddess Sasha Grey who breathed some new life into the show.

That's right, between the plot points of this week's Entourage was a whole lot of sex. There was talk about sex, Ari having angry sex, Eric having (how shall I put this delicately) experimental sex, and Vince dating a girl who absolutely loves sex. She loves it so much, in fact, that she does it professionally as an award-winning porn star who goes by the name Sasha Grey.

Hitherto this episode, I had no idea who this Sasha Grey character was. Turns out she's known in the industry as "the anal specialist," fitting for an episode called Bottoms Up.

Lucky Vince -- and good for the show, too -- she's also smart, cool, and can swig back a shot of tequila with Mickey Mouse pancakes like one of the boys. In all honesty, I really hope she sticks around. I'm probably stating what her hot-blooded male fan-base has known since she turned barely legal four years ago. There's something about her that's really quite intriguing. Steven Soderbergh agrees.

Yet it pains me to say that not even a cameo from an unexpected breath of fresh air like Grey could gloss over the fact that the veneers of HBO's darling seem to be fading. As a viewer who's been there since the very beginning, I've eagerly lapped up the gloss, glitz, and surprising wisdom of nouveau Hollywood along with Vinnie and his crew.

Tonight, though, I did no lapping. Instead I was lapped upon -- treated to a 20-odd-minute lap dance, that is -- in an attempt to distract me from the fact that, hey, nothing new is going on. I stared at a frame of Mrs. Ari's rump for a good 15 seconds before I realized that the director was trying to ply me with sex. For sensitive readers, forgive me. I'm going to rattle off a couple of one-liners from the show to further elaborate my point.

"I bet her ass sings opera," says Scott Lavin of Ms. Grey.

"Vagina is my third favorite hole," replies Johnny.

"That's what marriage is for," quips Ari. "So you can bang out your anger." Okay, fine. Of course that would come from Ari's mouth. And yes, there could be some validity to that, too. The point is the writing this week felt hormonally and boyishly adolescent. For us girls who didn't go through the machinations of boy puberty, this week's Entourage was like trying to pull off a backless dress with a plunging neckline.

But I did laugh this week, a vast improvement, I'd say. The, um, penetrating scene between Eric and Sloane was tender, hilarious, and grounded.

What are your thoughts on this week's episode? Am I riding Entourage a little too hard? Oops, sorry. I've got sexual innuendo on the brain.
