"Lost": "Across the Sea" Episode Sorely Disappoints

Yesterday, we talked about a few Lost theories; today everybody’s talking about last night’s episode, "Across the Sea." Should I just say what you probably don't want to admit? I hated last night's episode.

I'll say it again: I hated it!

And, quite honestly, I'm pissed that we have so little time left and yet so much of it was spent watching bad acting from Allison Janney (sorry, girl, I love you usually, but not as a psycho earth mother with a bad script) and two really boring kid actors. Tonight's back-story episode would've been much more forgivable had it come a little earlier in the season -- not with only one episode left before the finale. Am I right?

I will concede that it was helpful to finally understand the relationship between Jacob and the Man in Black (twin brothers). Moreover, I like that we got to see why MiB is so very evil (bad parenting from the psycho earth mom who killed his biological mom, lied about it, and kept him on the island against his will). And I suppose it made sense to see that Jacob initially was a reluctant protector of the island given that he never really seemed to do the job with heart.

But at the end of the day, for me at least, the episode raised more questions than it answered. If MiB was killed, then how does the Smoke Monster live on? And didn't we see a more recent scene of MiB and Jacob eating together at the end of last season?

And finally, the revelation that Earth Mom and MiB were the two "Adam and Eve" skeletons from the first season was just plain annoying. Sure, it tied up some loose ends, but Why?

Maybe I'm just cranky because I didn't get my weekly dose of Matthew Fox and Josh Holloway. I guess I'd better get used to it ...

What did you think of last night's episode?
