Just when we all thought Toys 'R' Us had gone the way of the dinosaurs, there's new hope that the former toy giant might be on its way back from the dead. A group of investors has canceled a bankruptcy auction of the former toy store chain's intellectual property, and word has it they're planning a comeback.

Toys 'R' Us closed its doors in June, much to the dismay of every parent who fondly remembered being a "Toys 'R' Us kid."

But in a bankruptcy court filing on Tuesday, a group of secured lenders revealed they're scrapping plans to auction off Toys 'R Us assets piece by piece. Instead, the group reportedly thinks they can get a better return on their investment if they bring the retailer back for round two.

According to NBC, the investor group will "attempt to establish a company that maintains existing global license agreements and can invest in and create new, domestic, retail operating businesses under the Toys 'R' Us and Babies 'R' Us names." They also said they plan to work with potential partners around the globe to brainstorm a new approach "that could bring back these iconic brands in a new and re-imagined way."

Needless to say, many people are thrilled at the news and ready to welcome the brand back with open arms.-placeholder

When Toys 'R' Us closed, more than 30,000 people lost their jobs. In addition, the closure had a ripple effect in the toy industry that also led Mattel to lay off 2,200 people because of lost sales. It's highly unlikely that the brand tanked as part of an elaborate scam, but society seems to love conspiracy theories.

There's no set date for when we can expect to see a Toys 'R' Us relaunch, and plans are still totally preliminary. But if this works out, hopefully we can look forward to a newer, better toy store where we can share memories with a whole new generation of Toys 'R' Us kids.
