Anna & Elsa Have a Brother? 'Frozen' Director Reveals Surprising Family Tie

frozen anna elsaEvery Frozen fan knows that Anna and Elsa "only have each other," since their parents died in a shipwreck, right? On the contrary, the film's director, Chris Buck, recently hinted that the parents washed ashore and gave birth to Anna and Elsa's brother: Tarzan.

This shocking news first surfaced a year ago on Reddit when Buck addressed a question about the death of the King and Queen of Arendelle.

"They didn't die on the boat," Buck said. "They got washed up on a shore in a jungle island. The queen gave birth to a baby boy. They build a tree house. They get eaten by a leopard..."

Sound familiar? In the Disney film version of Tarzan, two parents also set up camp in a jungle tree house, then get eaten by leopards. Quite a coincidence, huh?

And during an interview with MTV recently, Buck substantiated this family tie he'd alluded to.

"I said, 'Of course Anna and Elsa’s parents didn't die,'" Buck said. "Yes, there was a shipwreck, but they were at sea a little bit longer than we think they were because the mother was pregnant, and she gave birth on the boat, to a little boy. They get shipwrecked, and somehow they really washed way far away from the Scandinavian waters, and they end up in the jungle. They end up building a tree house and a leopard kills them, so their baby boy is raised by gorillas. So in my little head, Anna and Elsa’s brother is Tarzan."

Well now! It's nice to know that Anna and Elsa aren't quite as alone as they might think. And Tarzan, too. These may be happy Disney movies and all, but think about it: They lost their parents. That's pretty dark! So a long-lost sibling could bring them some solace.

Now, of course, I'm wondering how a family reunion would go between these three siblings. That would make for quite a film sequel, wouldn't it?
