What Your Favorite Sesame Street Character Says About You

Ernie Sesame StreetIt’s great when your toddler finally has the attention span to settle down and watch a cartoon or two. Some preschool shows will make wish you hadn’t turned on the television (I’m looking at you Caillou, you bald brat). But Sesame Street is still on every weekday, and it’s just as awesome as you remember. Although we know and love the whole gang, deep down we all have one we like better than the rest. Who you choose as your favorite monster can say a lot about your personality. Just look:

Count von Count

You think of your household as a business, and you’re the successful CEO. Your pantry is both alphabetized and labelled. Thanks to your chore charts and monthly budget spreadsheets, you have pleasant, Benedict Cumberbatch filled dreams at night knowing everything is under control.

Cookie Monster

You have the attention span of a toddler and are happiest when your to-do list is a mile long. You delight in potty humor, making you the favorite aunt of all your tween nephews. You can never fully trust someone who claims they don’t like chocolate.

Elmo

You love Starbucks, yoga pants and all things #basic. You’re known as the go-to parent for bedtime reading because your imagination is bigger and better than any storybook. Sometimes you accidentally refer to yourself in the third person.

Big Bird

You might be a bit socially awkward, but that doesn’t stop you from having a huge group of friends. You’re not afraid to wear bold outfits with bright patterns, even if it means your kids lament being seen with you at drop-off in the mornings. You’re the mom people call on when they have a question but are too lazy to consult with Google.

Bert

You don’t really know why the other moms in the PTA don’t talk to you, but you suspect voting against the bake sale and suggesting a kale smoothie fundraiser instead may have something to do with it. You’re dying to get an Apple watch.

Ernie

Your kitchen has a chalkboard that you fill with inspirational quotes each week. You want to instill a sense of positivity and appreciation for life in your children. You don’t tolerate gossip or mean comments about others, and you aren’t afraid to walk away from those conversations.

Abby Cadabby

You’re the person all your friends text when they want to know if an outfit looks good on them. You’re thinking about selling Jamberry to make some extra cash.

Murray

You’ve spent the last two weeks warning everyone you talk to about Mercury in Retrograde. Even though the doctor swears the test came back negative, you’re still not convinced that you don’t have a gluten allergy, because whenever you eat it your left big toe starts to itch.

Oscar the Grouch

People call you grumpy, but you prefer the term “old soul.” You may not be one for overt displays of public affection, but the tiny notes you slip in your kids’ lunchboxes and the fact that you cry at weddings means those close to you know about your gooey, sappy center.

Grover

You’re the mom that can’t take her kids to the park without toys, snacks, a spare set of clothes, hand sanitizer, bandages and sun screen. You know that you come across as anxious, but you’d rather seem overprotective on the monkey bars than wind up in the emergency room.

Zoe

If there’s a family gathering, people tell you it starts at 2 p.m. when it actually starts at 4 p.m. in order to get you there on time. You’re one of the few moms you know who didn’t have to argue with her kids in order to follow them on Instagram, and your own account has more followers than all your children combined.
