Most of us have had to make the choice at one time or another between boosting our career and maximizing time with our kids. Monica Kapoor, one of the ensemble cast of MAMMA MIA! on Broadway, really swam against the tide of her profession when she went from being a featured player in the show back to being a part of the ensemble.

Most people who are pursuing showbiz as a career know that the time to do so is short; you don't see a lot of 50-year-old dancers hoofing around the stage. So opting out is even more chancy than it is for most people ... but Monica wouldn't have it any other way.

Everyone who has children and a job has struggled with the question: "Work or stay home?" The right answer is different for everyone. And, as it turns out, the struggle to figure out what's best for you and for your family isn't limited to the so-called "mommy wars." Dads deal with it too. The answer isn't any easier when both people in the couple are "dad."

For David, one of the stars of Mamma Mia! on Broadway and dad to ridiculously cute toddler Sadie, it's been a debate since he and his partner Russell brought their daughter home. And they've made some sacrifices to figure it out...sacrifices that might sound familiar to, oh, any of us.

So you think keeping a family in clean underwear, socks and clothes is a challenge? Wait until you see Irene's life.

She's the wardrobe supervisor for Mamma Mia! on Broadway, and it's her job to make sure every piece of every costume is clean, organized, and ready to be tugged on by the actors and their dressers in seconds between scenes.

I especially loved that Irene is incredibly organized at work, but at home? The way she tells it, not so much. Everything at work is down to a science, but she says if her husband didn't remind her of all the various details of family life she'd be dropping the ball all over the place. Isn't that the case for so many of us?

Watching a great theater production is magical...but it's a lot of hard work for the people who are putting on the show.

Jennifer Perry, who plays Rosie in Mamma Mia! on Broadway, played the same role in Las Vegas 10 years ago. As she tells us, at the time she was single, not a mom, and, well, 10 years younger!

Now, though, the days of sleeping until noon the morning after a show are over! Usually she's been on duty with her son Wayne since 8 a.m., and has to be onstage singing and dancing and full of energy 12 hours later. Think how drained you are at the end of the day, and imagine having to be on stage to entertain a bunch of paying customers in a well-loved show.

In fact, Jennifer prizes the time she takes care of applying her own makeup because it's about the only alone time she has all day. Sounds familiar?

No question, some days feel like a marathon when you're a mother. Starting early and ending late is the name of the game. But my busiest day (and probably yours) pales in comparison to Monica's. She's a cast member of Mamma Mia on Broadway, and a typical Saturday for her starts at 6:30 am and ends close to midnight. And that's not just wake-up to bedtime, that's active time!

As this behind-the-scenes look at the lives of "Mamma Mia" Broadway stars shows (video below), they're more like "regular" parents than you'd think. Broadway actors start at about $1,600 a week. And while that sounds like a TON to most of us, when you figure in sky-high NYC rents, cab fare, and all the associated expenses of being a performer, that doesn't go too far.

Take Jennifer, the actress who plays Rosie in the show. She had a costume fitting across Manhattan, so she took her 3-year-old son along with her to save the $30 or $40 she'd have to pay for a sitter.
