H1N1 (Swine Flu) Vaccine Recalled

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced an H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine recall. But if you've vaccinated your child, don't worry. The vaccine hasn't been recalled for safety reasons, but for potency reasons. Here's what you need to know.

The CDC is recalling 800,000 of the vaccines because they don't contain enough of an active ingredient, but health officials say the effectiveness is only a little below the optimal level and will still help your child fight off H1N1. But to be sure, they recommend that your child get a booster shot.

The children's H1N1 vaccine recall affects infants and toddlers from six months to 35 months old, who received their shot from a pre-filled syringe without the preservative in it. If your child got the nose spray or a shot from a multi-dose vial, those vaccines are not in question.

Check with your doctor to see if your child's vaccine was affected.

This is why my daughter isn't getting it. I don't care why it was recalled. The main thing is it was RECALLED. She only getting a regular flu shoot. She's not in school and the people who she is ready got the H1N1 shot.

I'm so glad I didn't do the shots with the kids, I did the regular flu shot only

I believe that the CDC is hiding behind the "It's not quite effective enough" ruse for this recall.  I've read too many other things saying that this shot is truly being recalled because of all of the devastating cases of GBS that it is causing.

Besides, when this shot first was introduced they told everyone straight up that one dose would not be effective enough and that children would need a second booster.  So that sure doesn't seem like a very legit reason to recall the shot.

Gotta love this line.... don't worry. The vaccine hasn't been recalled for safety reasons, but for potency reasons....UM, a lil worry cuz you think your child is protected and he's not!!!!

I was shocked & very surprised to hear of a lot of schools districts MASS vaccinating their students....just makes me think of the Polio vaccine....(& when I was at Auburn and we had that Measle epidemic.)
