The holiday season is a time for giving to your family and friends, yes, but also through charitable giving to those who are less fortunate. You don't have to go far around here to see CafeMoms supporting several charities of all shapes and sizes this year.

What about you? What charities do you support during the holidays?

CafeMom jgal29 donates to Toys for Tots:

"A great holiday charity that we donate to each year is Toys for Tots. Through their website, you can find drop-off zones in your area or donate online. Every year we donate.

Last year, we went to the after-Thanksgiving sales at Wal-Mart and bought 6 of their $10 deals on toys and donated them to Toys for Tots."

CafeMom neyon226 supports the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, among other charities that fight hunger:

"Honestly, around Christmas time, I usually only donate money, and here's why. Charities have great needs year-round. Many charities fund their entire year's budget on what they collect during Christmas.

So who do I give money to? Boys & Girls Clubs. They take hundreds of kids in our community every day who have no home life whatsoever and help them with homework. They feed them. They send food home with them in backpacks because that is the only food they will ever get."

CafeMom corsetedwife gives to Project Linus:

"I give to Project Linus. They give blankets to children who are hurt, sick, or traumatized. Each blanket is handmade and special. The blanket was made for this one child and no other. I make blankets all year round, but I know the cost is big so at the holiday season, I give a cash donation. With each drop off, I try to give something, but this is usually much more."

These three charities all have wonderful missions. And don't forget — gifting a charity in someone's name makes a perfect gift for those people on your list who have everything they need.

What charities do you try to support each holiday season?
