It's time for a Mom Confession -- because, let's face it, we're real mothers and sometimes it doesn't work the way the parenting books say it should.
This Week's Confession:
I accidentally left my toddler at church. I thought my mom had her, my mom thought I had her, so she was left. The people at church watched her but I felt so bad! — anonymous
We all have secrets -- so thanks to this brave mom for sharing her honest thoughts, and thank you for keeping this conversation non-judgmental!

While I understand it's an accident, I have never done this, and honestly, I can't understand it happening. I've left my PURSE a few places, but never my children, ever. I double and triple-check knowing where my kids are at all times, and never make assumptions about someone else having them.
I've never left DD anywhere, but I do tend to lose kids on field trips. There was one time when we went to the Children's Museum. Each adult had a small group. I think I had 5 kids. My group picked an exhibit and a buddy. I let each pair look around the exhibit as they wished and I walked around checking on them. Apparently I wasn't clear enough because 2 of my kids ended up in a different exhibit on the 5th floor (we were on the 1st)!!!
No, but my son did fall out of a stoller when he was little because I told my aunt to watch him for a second, and didn't double check to make sure she actually heard me...
I havent', but I worry about it a lot!
My inlaws left my brother-in-law at home once and headed to church.. then went back and got him. He was a bit older though. I haven't done it yet, though.
I haven't left my child somewhere, but I did have one of my kids get lost at the zoo in a similar situation. My parents accompanied my three kids and I to the zoo one day and at one point my middle child got lost- I thought she was with my mom, my mom thought she was with me. Instead she got separated from both of us and wandered back through the pavillion until I realized she was not with my mom and went tearing back through the pavillion shouting her name. Now we make sure we are absolutely clear which child is with which adult if there is more than one adult supervising!

This. I'm sure someone will call me sanctimonious for saying so, but my son is my first thought at ALL TIMES. I could never forget him or even assume that someone else had him because I would be double and triple checking.
I've definitely never forgotten my child anywhere, but I voted other because I was one of the many kids in history who has been left somewhere....LOL I was forgotten at church as well and apparently my family began driving away when they realized I wasn't there. They immediately went back and I was with some church people crying, but ok. So needless to say, my sister and I never let my poor mom live this down. We always give her crap about this. LOL
Yes I once forgot my DD in the bank when she was 2 weeks old. I was in a rush and for some reason I forgot I had her. I finish my transaction and when I was in the parking lot to open my car I saw the car seat and remember I wasn't preggo anymore. I run back to the bank and there she was my baby girl near the security guard. Lucky for me everyone knows me there because I have been going there since I can remember. The guard laugh and gave me my child.
Never say never.... :)
