It's time for a Mom Confession -- because, let's face it, we're real mothers and sometimes it doesn't work the way the parenting books say it should.
This Week's Confession:
I've given my kid Benedryl to ensure an early bedtime because I just couldn't take it anymore. I needed sleep but I've only done it once or twice and only a small amount. — anonymous
We all have secrets -- so thanks to this brave mom for sharing her honest thoughts, and thank you for keeping this conversation non-judgmental!

I appreciate the fact that this mom had the courage to come foreward but I cannot support medicating your child for any reason other then whats labled on the bottle.... And I just took TWO 15 hour flights with my two year old...
HAHAHAHAHAHA THAT'S MEAN and quite funny BUT giving your kids medications when their not sick is not only wrong, it can damage their health and is very immature and irresponsible. Now if the ped prescribe it is OK. At least is my opinion.
Wow.
I gave my son Benedryl once when he was sick and the way it made him so sleepy freaked me out. I could never picture giving it to him to make him sleepy when he was fine.
We joke about it when the kids are getting rowdy and it's getting to be bedtime, but I would never actually DO it!
I have joked about giving kids meds to put them to sleep but no way would I ever really do that to my kid. I feel it's totally wrong...
Wow, that's just wrong. Left me speechless.
I only give my children medicine when it is absolutely necessary. I did have to give my son Benedryll when we traveled for car sickness when he was younger and even then I felt bad for him.
I only give my kids medication when they need it for an illness. Medicating your child just so you can have a little extra "me" time is abusive.
Never done it and never would. However if this mom did it once in her life, I don't think it's the WORST thing in the world you could do as a parent.
