I used to LOVE building play forts when I was kid, and I've been known to encourage my kids to build forts in their room. Sometimes I regret the mess, but it's so fun!
Now your family's fort-making skills can win your family an Xbox 360!
Via Where the Wild Things Are director Spike Jonze's blog We Love You So and Boooooom, you can enter The Wild Things' Fort Contest!
Just build a cool fort out of sheets or blankets or furniture or an old box or couch cushions or tents or plywood or the baby's playthings or the pool toys you haven't put away or snow (if you have some already) or sticks or anything else you can find, and email them a photo.
For cool fort inspiration and to find out how to enter to win a special edition Xbox 360 for the whole family (let's face it; the prize isn't for the toddler, but they'll enjoy playing in the fort, right?), head on over to We Love You So.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, October 12th.
Do you and your toddlers build forts? What materials do you use?

Oh, my kids are constantly building forts. They use every pillow and blanket in the house propped up against the shell of the couch, and then cry and whine when it all comes collapsing down every couple of minutes, begging me to fix it. I love the creativity but boy do I get sick of rebuilding forts all day.
Thanks for letting us know about the contest!
lol cute.. we have more Xbox 360s than we know what to do with (Dh repairs them in his spare time) but I hope a cafemommer wins this! My kids make forts everyday.. its a nice way to pass some time.
LuminousMom, if you're bogged down with 6360s, I'd certainly relieve you of one... you know, just offering to help lighten your load. Don't thank me, it's what friends are for! ;)
Er, 360's. Dunno where that extra 6 came from.
I think it's rather ironic that if your kids are really into free play and are making forts, etc., that they could possibly win a video game which will put them on the couch.
OMG what a great Idea but please not underneath your recliner while you think nothing can go wrong it can my niece almost took her haead off climbing under one of those things and you can you will never let that happen but it does! But it is such a cute Idea!
The metal recliner pieces made me cringe too.
