Many baby dolls come with baby bottles and some moms object to this—they think that the bottles are sending a message to their little ones that babies should be bottle fed. Other moms worry when their kids pretend to breastfeed. Now a Spanish company is selling a doll that promotes breastfeeding.
Bebe Gloton is a doll that comes with a colorful vest that has flowers over the nipple area, which the little "mommy" wears. When the baby doll is lifted to the flowers it makes a suckling motion and sound. The doll is the average length of a real newborn, and it comes in baby boy and baby girl versions.
What do you think of Bebe Gloton? Would you get one for your child?

I doubt I'll ever see that doll on the shelves of my local Toys-R-Us, but I think it would be cool for my daughter to have one.
ROFL!!!
A Nursing baby doll is when little 3 yr. old lifts up her shirt and holds baby (or baby lion, bunny or bear) against her chest.
I hate the toys that take all the imagination away from play :(. I doubt I would go out of my way to purchase this doll, wouldn't mind it as a gift if I had a girl, but would simply remove the play bottles from the set before giving it to my child. See, problem solved- Baby is now an exclusive breast feeder!
My son nurses his bear lol. It's the cutest thing. I wouldn't object to getting that for my kids as I'm bfing my daughter. It's natural LOL
I think it's a bit ridiculous. I don't think that we need to have dolls that are made for breast feeding.. Especially before our kids have even reached puberty.
What happens when some creepy man is staring your little girl down while she's innocently "breast feeding" her doll in public? Ever think of that?
All of us grew up just fine knowing that breast is best without having a doll hanging off of our chests when we were 5.
Come on....
Actually RGladson...many women dont even know babies can breastfeed. I had no idea until my baby was born and the doctor asked if I was going to breast or bottle feed. I was like "They can do that?". No one told me that they could as a child. All I had ever seen was bottle fed babies.
I do remember once ebing in a car with some relatives and this other ladys baby started crying so they pulled over and took the baby out of the car seat. I asked why they didnt just hand her a bottle and the mom said she wanted to be held. But now I am pretty sure they were nursing.
Girls arent taught at 5 that babies can nurse many have no idea until they are pregnant and then they know so litle about it they pot to bottle feed.
I think the doll is a great idea!
MoM.i.aM I agree, and the breastfeeding rates in the US back that up. One other point I want to address is the creepy man would stare whether she had the doll or not because he is a sick pervert. The doll wouldn't be what caught his disgusting eye, it would be your daughter, as revolting as the thought is.
i agree with the second coment.
I'm not a fan of dolls that do things and don't allow the child to pretend and imagine but I figure if there are dolls that eat, drink from a bottle, and pee into a disposable diaper, why not have a doll that nurses? I'd rather just buy a plain Jane doll and teach my child the real deal but this is better than nothing, I guess.
I think it's great to promote breastfeeding from a young age to make it a normal thing for kids too see.
I'm a little confused by the flower-nipples, I think it would be fine just for the child to bring the baby to her chest - so I don't think I would buy that particular one for my daughter - but she's 21 months now and she has 1 baby doll which I threw the bottle that came with it away before I gave it to her - she's still breastfed herslf and pretends to breastfeed her doll anyway.
I think it is wonderful! My son actually tries to nurse his dolls and his sister! LOL! He will be so disappointed when he learns that only women breastfeed. I would love to have one for my daughter when she gets older, though I am sure a regular baby doll minus the bottle would suffice for her.
