Do art supplies tend to wind up in your toddler's mouth instead of in actual art projects? Then you may want to give these edible play dough recipes a try.
Peanut Butter Play Dough From Pioneer Press
1 cup peanut butter
2/3 to 1 cup nonfat powdered milk
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon wheat germ
Mix peanut butter, honey, and powdered milk. Add wheat germ until play dough consistency is achieved. It's recommended that you use (and eat) this dough immediately after making.
And if your child has a nut allergy...
Kool-Aid Play Dough From Family Corner.com
1 cup flour
1 cup water
1/2 cup salt
3 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 tablespoon oil
1 package Kool-Aid mix
Mix all ingredients together and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens to dough. Knead until cool enough for kids to handle.

I just found the Kool Aid one at the library they had printed out in the activity area. I haven't had a chance to try it though. Probably next weekend we will test it out :)
My mom runs a preschool and always makes the koolaid playdough for her kids. Cheaper than buying tons of playdough. My little one has scented playdough that her therapist gave us, she loves it and we've had it for a long time.
Does anyone know if the kool-aid one stains the kids' hands when they play with it? lol I don't let the kids have kool-aid, but I'd use it to make play dough with! :D
no but i always wanted to make it, so thanks!!!
My mom would make peanut butter play dough for us when we were growing up.
I've made the peanut butter playdough before but never w/wheat germ...does anyone know what this ingredient does for the mixture?
I made my son the peanut butter one once. He did not seem to like it too much. At this stage he does not like to get his hands dirty.
ive never made it, but i dont let my girls play with it
