It's time for a Mom Confession — because, let's face it, we're real mothers and sometimes it doesn't work the way the parenting books say it should.
This Week's Confession:
I wish I had a fulfilling career outside the home.
I am a stay-at-home mom and never had a "fulfilling" paid career, so I can't really imagine the draw to the workplace. While I am fulfilled in many ways being home with my kids, sometimes I wish I had something outside my family, something that was my own. -- anonymous
We all have secrets and opinions — so thanks to this brave mom for sharing her honest thoughts, and thank you for keeping this conversation non-judgemental!

I'm a wahm now- but had a wonderful career outside of the home in the past- I sometimes DO really miss my office, my suits, MY PAYCHECK!!! lol...working from home is a nice compromise, but a difficult one and to me not as fulfilling. But I feel that I can get back into the work world once all the kids have started school- I have time to build a career but only one shot at raising the kids- so I don't feel I'm giving up one for the other, just putting them in a sequence that allows for both.
I am a full time working mom and am very happy and fulfilled in my career working wiht adults wiht developmental disabilities. I had my career prior to my child and worked to get my education prior. I have no desire to be a full time SAHM but I would work a few less days if I ever had the option. Actually, I feel like I have the best of both worlds becuase my husband works 3 twelve-hour shifts and is home with my DD three days during the week and she is only in day care two days. It is perfect becasue she gets socialization wiht other kids and although not home with me, home with a parent. I honestly feel that I have a lot of quality time wiht her when I am with her because I focus on her when I am home.and enjoy my time with her.
I'm a SAHM & I do love it but there are times I wish i was out & working
I have been a SAHM for the past 7 years. I have 3 children and quite frankly I couldn't afford daycare. Now that my kids are getting a little bigger (2 in fulltime school 1 still at home) I have returned to work as a hairdresser. I find so much joy in having my own time. My self esteem has returned and I am totally loving it!
Can't we be both??? I am a SAHM and some days its amazing...but some days, I would trade everyone of the WM out there. I think as women and moms we have both and it all depends on the day, how the morning goes, if the coffee pot turned on... Its why they make our children so beautiful when they sleep so that it erases all the stress of the day.... So I am offically a happy stay at home half the time and want a career the other half.... call me crazy...
