Whatever you do, DO NOT leave your toddler unattended with the Internet!
After all, even the average toddler can make an expensive online purchase when your back is turned.
A New Zealand mom had to find this out the hard way. She was bidding for toys on the auction site TradeMe and left her computer unattended. Then her 3-year old daughter Pipi got on and, in a few clicks, bought a $12,300 piece of construction machinery (story via ohdeedoh). Whoops.
This story made me laugh. I'm going to leave my laptop open on the Hawaiian island vacation website and see what happens. I can always tell my husband, "It's not my fault. Leo bought the ticket."

Thank heaven NO. LOL
I got her this leappad launch thing where she can only go onto the websites of her favorite shows. It's neat and I dont' have to worry about it.
Nope - I don't allow him on the Internet for the most part. His computer time is limited to games on cd, never on the internet. I think I've let him on starfall.com once, but he didn't stay interested and so the only other time he's on the internet is when I'm "driving". If I leave, the take the keys (the connection) with me so he can't go anywhere by himself. Luckily, he hasn't figured out how to get on the internet himself since it's only a click away.
That's so funny! (and awful!) And I thought it was bad my 18mo keeps getting ahold of my cell phone and calling the last person I talked to (usually hubby) I get calls back, and he's like, "what's up" I'm like what do you mean? Michael just sits there saying "hello" and "bye bye" over and over!
lol errr my son got ahold of my laptop hes 19 months old i went to the bathroom really fast and left it open and he pulled some of the keys off... they wont go back on
:( he runs for it if i ever step away from it for 1 second!
Yea my DD loves to play on PBS kids but we have a thing called parental control on her own account that she is only allowed to go on it for an 1hr a day during a 3 hr time period all other sites are blocked off she cannot search on yahoo or goggle etc..... and she has her own password...otherwise she cannot go on her account at anyother time
Not on the computer...
She's learned how to get onto the "oternet", as she calls it ,to check the balance on my cell phone. Also, she likes to surf the EXPENSIVE search pages. Thanks kid...
My daughter once bought a game on my cell phone. We paid for it for 3 months before we realized it. She doesn't get on my computer except to occasionally play her Dora game, and that's always with me.
My 13 month old son just bought me a new ringtone on my phone the other day. It was like 2.50 and I never even heard of the sone before. So I just use it as an alarm sound. lol
my son is not allowed near the computer. its a laptop so if i'm on it he is in bed and when we are playing it is closed and put up so he cant get to it.
my daughter has the old keyboard and mouse to tap and play on. however, she has surprised me, sneaking onto the computer and clicking stuff. she's never done any serious damage, just lots of stuff opened. however, like vlukey said, my daughter has gone on the internet on my cell phone many times. she cant do anything, cause its really not the 'internet' but Verizon's little internet thing. she hasn't bought any ring tones, but going onto the internet on my phone does cost money.
