It's time for a Mom Confession -- because, let's face it, we're real mothers and sometimes it doesn't work the way the parenting books say it should.
This Week's Confession:
I hate to play. I have no problem sitting and talking to my son while he is playing. But I can't stand getting down on the floor and rolling trucks and trains around making noises. I'm sure it will be the same when my daughter is old enough to play dolls and have tea parties. I love spending time with my kids, but playing is not fun for me. -- anonymous
What activity does your toddler repeatedly ask you to play with her that you absolutely dread? Do you make up excuses to play a different game or do you suck it up?
We all have secrets and opinions -- so thanks to this brave mom for sharing her honest thoughts, and thank you for keeping this conversation non-judgemental!

The only reason that I don't like to play sometimes is that I have so much to do and feel stresed out. But when I pretend and act silly with my daughter to make her laugh I noticed that it calms me down. And helpsme to realize that everything else can wait for a little bit. It makes me feel good that she wants my attention because as she gets older she is going to be too busy for me and that makes me a lot more patient.
I play with my stepdaughter but sometimes I just don't feel like doing it so I don't. Also I think it's important for children to be able to entertain themselves sometimes. I don't think children should expect you to constantly entertain them.
OMG i thought this was just me!!! thanks ladies for your honesty. i have 2 boys and i really don't like playing cars or other pretend games. we have found through trial and error, i am not the board game mommy either. i get antsy cause its taking so long and get bossy. my husband has banned me from candy land! i don't mind coloring and reading, the quieter stuff.
