Unless your toddler has figured out how to operate the remote control already (dread the day), you probably still have some control over what they watch on TV.
Perhaps you've even banned some TV programs from being shown -- either because you're uncomfortable with the content or they're just so annoying you can't bear them yourself.
"Caliou. That's the one we banned," says one mom of two girls in The CafeMom Newcomer's Club. "That show bugs the crap out of me, and my husband doesn't want my daughter to learn how to whine like him."
"Most things on Nick, Disney, and anything that is meant for tweens," says another mom. "Barney, Teletubies, Wiggles aren't allowed either. My son will turn the channel if they come on."
Are there any banned television shows in your house? What are they and why do you ban them?

We banned Dora. We feel that the government is trying to force us to speak Spanish and we are against it.
We have banned Spongebob and Barney. They can watch just about everything else. Anything on Disney or NickJr, and almost anything on PBSkids.
I don't understand why some people are "banning" some of the shows mentioned. To each there own I guess. I think Noggin is an excellent channel for toddlers. My dd is allowed to watch any and every show on that channel. I don't let her watch SpongeBob, it kinda freaks her out anyway...lol. Otherwise the only "banned" shows in our house are adult, primetime type shows. She is way too little for CSI...lol.
Spongebob, Oobi (that just creeps me out) and Barney are the main ones.
I am not particularly fond of Pingu or Yo Gabba Gabba, but I don't "ban" them.
Glad we dont have alot of friends around with tots.... My dd 2nd bday party was Spongebob!! *i must be a horrible mom!* She does like it, but she doesnt watch it alot (not even weekly)....
Id love to know why alot of ther shows (i DO understand spongebob!) are banned.. like barney & the wiggles... and elmo?.....im not sure why these would be banned minues parents just not wanting their kids to watch something the parents find annoying.
I don't know what's so bad about Barney....it's not a fun show for adults I agree, but it's not supposed to be.
My son loves Dora the Explorer, don't know why, but he smiles and laughs and dances along. Who knows why they like the things they do?
My kids are 17,14 and 8 now,but when they were little,I banned teletubbies.I didnt see anything fun or even educational about it...it was stupid!! Back when my kids were little they also had Power Rangers and I didnt let them watch that.Wiggles is annoying, but my youngest son liked to dance to the songs,so I didnt care if he watched Wiggles.
I haven't really banned anything. I switch it up a lot so we are not always watching the same things. That way neither of us get bored. The only thing I don't let her watch is religious shows.
I hate sponge bob. My younger sister watched him so much she laughed like him. It was awful. I just unplugged it two weeks ago. The only two things she watched were sesame street and an elmo dvd. Well, I noticed that when they give the example of bad behavior (i.e. Elmo knocked down Big Bird's block tower, then big bird whines a lot, etc) she didn't ever make it to the "resolution". She mimicked the bad behavior, and would knock down towers I made for her baby sister. No point in that. She doesn't need tv. We put on music instead. She asks for Bono. That's my girl. :)
WE don't like that one either but we are okay with some of the others but our kids don't watch them!
