We haven't made it through Halloween and Thanksgiving isn't even on the radar. But toy makers are already probing the minds of our tots to find out what they'll be dreaming about for Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanza this year.

Today, Toys"R"Us announced its 2008 list of five toy trends that will influence kids' wish lists this holiday season. Here they are:

  • Adorable Animatronics. Think: pet dogs that don't need to be fed or walked, and cartoon characters like Dora that come to life.
  • Curious Kids. Games, kits, and projects that let kids discover and explore the world around them, including science, space, and nature.
  • Earth-Friendly Fun. Eco-friendly books, toys, and dolls that help kids do their part to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
  • Music: My Way. Games, electronics, and traditional instruments that allow children to create tunes and tones with their own individual style.
  • Savvy Saver. Gift cards, so kids can learn to budget and maximize their spending dollars.

If you're seeking specifics, moms here have already begun trading ideas. There's some great holiday gift ideas in this Toddler Moms group post.
