White Cloud Diapers Discontinued

117

White Cloud diapers, a favorite brand of many CafeMoms for the price, design and function, are being discontinued.

"Man! Thats the ONLY kind of diapers that works for my kids!!" says amanda803, one of several moms venting in the Stay at Home Moms group. "Maybe I'll convert to cloth."

I put in a call to Walmart, where the diapers are sold exclusively, to get the scoop, but they didn't get back to me before the craziness of the weekend took over. But Steph1499 got through to the White Cloud people. Here's what a consumer service person emailed to her:

"Unfortunately, the White Cloud diaper line has been discontinued; however the Parent's Choice brand will still be available.

The White Cloud diapers were a brand that was exclusive to the Walmart retailers; therefore they are not available at any other retailer. If you're looking for something comparable to the White Cloud diaper, we manufacture the Member's Mark diapers for Sam's Club."

I also talked to CafeMom's super saver, ReesesPieces, also a White Cloud fan, who's been working the phones, too.

"The White Cloud company explained that Member's Mark diapers from Sam's are as comparable to White Cloud as you can get," ReesesPieces says. "They manufactuer both those and the Parent's Choice diapers for Walmart, but she agreed that Parent's Choice diapers are of a lesser quality."

Out of despiration, ReesesPieces bought a box of Huggies (with a coupon) but noticed they reduced their 80-count box of diaper (size 5) a couple months ago to 70-count for the same price!

"I called Huggies about this," ReesesPieces says, "and they said that they now cost more for them to make. She did offer to send me some coupons; however, the price for the lower quantity is certainly beginning to outweigh the quality. I have yet to get down to Target (a 30-minute drive) to see if perhaps they have changed their price or quantity. If they have not, then I will most likely stick with them."

The good news is that you can still find White Cloud diapers on the shelves at some stores, according to moms, and many are on clearance, so it might be time to stock up.

Has anyone tried Member's Mark diapers? Are they really comparable to White Cloud?

What brand will you be subsitituting for White Cloud?

gear, potty training

That sucks! I have used WC for years. My newborn is wearing Parent's Choice now since our walmart is already out of WC. I'll see how they work if they don't work we'll be going to Pampers. Every other store that carries diapers except for grocery stores is at least 60 miles away.

With the reducing the amount of diapers at the same price as the original count of diapers, I have experienced that myself.  I get Kuddles, which is a Winn-Dixie brand and I really like them but the other day I went and bought one of the large boxes of diapers that usually have 92 diapers for $17.99 but right behind that box there were other boxes that only had 79? diapers in them for the same price.  I was like, that is so not cool.

I never used white cloud myself but I will continue to use Kuddles brand cause I have found they work better than Huggies or Pampers.

That REALLY STINKS!!!  I've used WC for all three of my children and had planned on using them for my twins that are coming!!!!!  I will NOT be using the Parent's Choice brand.  I tried them with all of my kids and they leaked continually.  I will switch to the store brand from Target.  I felt like they worked just as well as the WC and were VERY comparable in price.  I haven't used them regularly because I don't regularly shop at Target but I guess we'll be running in there for diapers in the future.  This REALLY stinks!!!

the member's mark ones from sam's are pretty much the same thing...however parent's choice is cheaper per diaper....by like 2c per diaper i think...

but i dont like them as well...i'm really pleased w/ the member's mark ones.

I used White Cloud with my girls, I can say that the Target Store Brand and Publix Store Brand are both good diapers and still cheaper than Huggies or Pampers.

Huh.  I'm going to try the Mom 2 Mom brand (Albertson's and Safeway have them) because they look they they're competing with Pamper's Swaddlers/Cruisers line.

I used the White Cloud...once.  And I never used them again, so this really doesn't affect me.  We've always been partial to the Pampers Baby Dry.  They also just reduced the box size, with the same price.  It must be the entire industry.  Next baby - cloth!

they never worked for Caleb but that sucks for people who could use them.

We like Parent's Choice, and have never had problems with them. They were out of stock once, so we grabbed White Cloud. The first diaper out of the package, the tab ripped right off so it was unusable. It happened again to another diaper the next day, so we were as gentle as possible until we used up the pack and could go back to PC. Lesser quality? Not in my experience.

My little Ava in the picture is wearing the new Parent's Choice. They changed their diapers recently and they work MUCH better!
