White Cloud Diapers Discontinued

117

White Cloud diapers, a favorite brand of many CafeMoms for the price, design and function, are being discontinued.

"Man! Thats the ONLY kind of diapers that works for my kids!!" says amanda803, one of several moms venting in the Stay at Home Moms group. "Maybe I'll convert to cloth."

I put in a call to Walmart, where the diapers are sold exclusively, to get the scoop, but they didn't get back to me before the craziness of the weekend took over. But Steph1499 got through to the White Cloud people. Here's what a consumer service person emailed to her:

"Unfortunately, the White Cloud diaper line has been discontinued; however the Parent's Choice brand will still be available.

The White Cloud diapers were a brand that was exclusive to the Walmart retailers; therefore they are not available at any other retailer. If you're looking for something comparable to the White Cloud diaper, we manufacture the Member's Mark diapers for Sam's Club."

I also talked to CafeMom's super saver, ReesesPieces, also a White Cloud fan, who's been working the phones, too.

"The White Cloud company explained that Member's Mark diapers from Sam's are as comparable to White Cloud as you can get," ReesesPieces says. "They manufactuer both those and the Parent's Choice diapers for Walmart, but she agreed that Parent's Choice diapers are of a lesser quality."

Out of despiration, ReesesPieces bought a box of Huggies (with a coupon) but noticed they reduced their 80-count box of diaper (size 5) a couple months ago to 70-count for the same price!

"I called Huggies about this," ReesesPieces says, "and they said that they now cost more for them to make. She did offer to send me some coupons; however, the price for the lower quantity is certainly beginning to outweigh the quality. I have yet to get down to Target (a 30-minute drive) to see if perhaps they have changed their price or quantity. If they have not, then I will most likely stick with them."

The good news is that you can still find White Cloud diapers on the shelves at some stores, according to moms, and many are on clearance, so it might be time to stock up.

Has anyone tried Member's Mark diapers? Are they really comparable to White Cloud?

What brand will you be subsitituting for White Cloud?

gear, potty training

Target brand diapers are THE exact same thing as White Cloud only with green figures vs. the purple clouds, TRY them only 13.92 for 92 size 4. LOVE THEM

white cloud gave my son a rash. pampers lowered their diaper count too, but kept the price the same. not as dramatic as huggies, but they went from 80 to 76 in a box

Eeek...I tried White Cloud diapers ONCE and hated them with a passion.  They were so rough and scratchy!  My sons butt looked so red =(

I use the Target brand diapers, they're not as soft and fluffly as the Pampers and what not but they get the job done with no scratches.

so sad... I am PG with my 5th and have used WC diapers on my last 3 kids. They were the only newborn dipes that fit my kids' tiny bums. My kids got rashes from Huggies and Pampers and last time I used Luvs (12 years ago) the smelled AWFUL. I am going to try to stock up on newborn WC if I can and then I guess we will go with the Target store brand ones. I have used them before and think they are similar.

I have used wc with all 3 of my girls, But I personally like Luvs they may be more expensive but I haven't had any problems with them

I have been looking for the "leftovers" all over central and east Texas and nothing...this sucks so much, they are the only ones that don't leak!!! I am using now HEB(if you are in texas and still there is not heb everywhere) and they are ok, same price than whitecloud were, and same quantity

Oh I'm sooooooooooooo glad I cloth diaper.  I am bummed though, as these are our sposies of choice, when a sposie is needed.  At least I have a few on hand, JIC.

I've always gone with Luvs.

The other thing that makes me mad is that I used to love LUVS, they were another great one like the White Cloud ones, Well, I just bought two cases (one for each kid in diapers) and I thought nothing of it, cause I loved thier quality well... come to find out.. LUVS have cut the thickness of thier diapers in like HALF... I've only been using them on the kids for a day, but already have had leaks and they sag with just a little moisture. I guess I will be cashing in on thier LEAK GAURD GAURUNTEE... I hope they refund all my money for both cases I spent $32 which for us is a lot. I guess I am happier with huggies for just lowering the count and not skimping on the quality. The kirkland diapers from costco are pretty good too for all you ladies who, like me, don't have a sams club nearby. I used to recomend LUVS, BUT NOT ANYMORE... I hope there is a LUVS exectutive who just happens to be reading this post...

I had no idea i just thought Wal Mart was not stocking their shelves.  I agree I used those diapers for all 3 of my girls and was very upset when we could not find them.  I too went to Parents Choice another Wal Mart brand but my girls are waking up wet all over.  Thank you for posting this.  I will try the Sams Club diapers.
