Mom Confessions: I Let My Toddlers Go Naked in Public

mom confessionsIt's time for a Mom Confession -- because, let's face it, we're real mothers and sometimes it doesn't work the way the parenting books say it should.

This Week's Confession:

I let my toddlers run around the house, the front porch, and the yard without clothes on.

So cute, so innocent and free! -- anonymous

I see nothing wrong with it, as long as the girl isn't of puberty age. If the girl is developing, then I would have an issue because that's when men start becoming pervs (well, men are always pervs, but you know what I mean.) -- anonymous

I'm not worried about perverts looking at my child naked. These people are so sick and twisted that they don't need to actually see a naked body. They get as much arousal out of a fully clothed kid at the store. There's not a thing we can do about it but be vigilant and protect our kids. And I, for one, am not going to let some sicko curtail my enjoyment of life, particularly on my own property, by dictating what my child does or does not wear. -- anonymous

Should toddlers be allowed to be outside only their birthday suits where strangers can see them?

As a former todler who loved being naked I totally get it. But I'm glad now my mother made me wear clothes in public. Because people catching a glimpse of your child naked while you're housing them off before they come in and seeing a full frontal view because you didn't feel like putting clothes on your child is different.

I know what hot summers are like and if your kid is going to get in the pool/sprinkler/water I can promise you making them wear a swimsuit will NOT make them too hot.

In our house my daughter runs around a lot with just a diaper on. I can manage to get her dresses in the morning but most times after lunch (I typically remove her shirt because I don't like to play 'stained clothes roundup' when I'm trying to put a load of clothes in the washer. I need to get some toddler sized bibs soon.) trying to get her re-dressed is a different story-- But it's fine because we're inside where the temperature is controlled and no one but myself, God, and those I choose to let in my house can see her.

She never leaves the house without clothes on. There's no reason she should have to.

I can't really say I "let" him go naked out back.  Last summer, he would  just take his bathing suit off and start playing in the baby pool like that.  It isn't worth the fight to make him put it back on.  We have no close neighbors and the backyard can't be seen from the street.

Now, to get them to keep their clothes on, I let them have naked time after their baths.  They keep their clothes on outside the house now :0)

I always make my boys wear little underwear whenever we go outside.  iam trying to teach them that their bodies are private and certain parts have to be covered all the time unless it is the bathtub or the doctor has them take them off for some reason. Even though they are 2 and 4 they have it down pretty well.

No--I dont' even let dd run around the house naked --i try to teach her modesty. -- I wouldn't even let her outside in just a pull-up.

I don't see a problem with it personally. As long as it's at your own home. Yes, even in the front yard. There is nothing sexual about a toddler, and anyone who thinks so needs help. Children need to be comfortable in their own bodies in order to grow up sexually healthy individuals, and for a toddler, nudity is simply a natural way to be. I think we're all doing a damn good job teaching our kids that nudity is dirty.

*Shrug* We live out in the country, our next door neighbors are a field full of long-horn steer, and our landlord on the other side of us is an old, married Mormon. I'm not too worried about how often any of us walk outside naked, least of all my 2-year-old son.

I could see being worried about that if you lived in a close/urban area, but we don't, so, naked we shall be!

my 2 y/o hates clothes, and we are potty training so naked is best! he only puts on clothes when we go places . =)

I don't really let my kids be naked all like that. No reason for it. DEFF wouldn't be naked in public wth? I don't see who the hell would let there kids run around naked anyway. They don't like bein wet.. tough, shouldn't of gotten wet, an if there in public an the parents know this.. don't let the kid get wet. To many perves. Now in my backyard, swimming, maybe.. public..NOT so mucj.
