It's time for a Mom Confession -- because, let's face it, we're
real mothers and sometimes it doesn't work the way the parenting books
say it should.
This Week's Confession:
"My kids have had pizza for breakfast. At least they are eating something and have food in their stomachs. I would rather feed them a non-traditional breakfast than have them be hungry!" -- anonymous
"I give my toddlers chicken nuggets and french fries first thing in the morning if they want it." -- anonymous
"My kids eat fish sticks for breakfast." -- anonymous
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and that good habits start early. Will this practice ruin your toddler's chance of developing lifelong healthy eating habits? Do you let your toddler eat anything he wants for breakfast?
We all have secrets and opinions -- so thanks to these brave moms for sharing their honest thoughts, and thank you for keeping this conversation non-judgemental!

I just got done eating pizza for bfast...its 822. Last week, I ate it at 6:30 am. Its good in the morning. I dont do that everyday but just when we order pizza the night before. Let them be kids.
I mean it's FOOD! Jesus people re3ally must not know that there is a recession going on and have nothing else to worry about other than what some one else is eating. Do you think the starving kids over in 3rd world countries care whether they have pizza or chickent nuggets for breakfast?
I think it depends on what you are calling "fast food" - to me, that's McDonald's, etc and No, I wouldn't let my son eat that for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Convenience food - as in frozen breakfast items that I need to heat up? Absolutely - but not often. Mostly, it's vegetarian sausage. Otherwise, I just try to keep easy stuff in the fridge for him to choose from, plus cereal, granola bars, oatmeal. Mostly, he's been eating tortillas for breakfast (right out of the fridge with nothing on them) - sometimes, he'll pair it with yogurt or cheese, sometimes he won't. He's in the "not hungry" stage, so as long as he eats something, it's better than nothing.
the challenge is to get them to eat breakfast anymore....but we do leftover pizza for breakfast; we even do cinnamon rolls and cereal (this morning) and anything in between. all depends on who has to do what where and when. besides, add pineapple and you have a balanced breakfast. Viola' ! chicka:)
pizza is great for breakfast. if you think about it it has- bread, meat, veggys, and milk. I let my kids have cake for breakfast. that isn't much different than a doughnut but cake is baked and doughnuts are fread.
we have had cereal or pancakes for dinner or late night snack.
Definitely not the worst offense I've ever heard.
It's fine as long as they don't eat pizza all the time---Moderation is key.
Breakfast in our house is kind of weird. I don't eat much but my daughter always has something. We're getting low on food so this morning I just made her toast and cut up an apple and a cup of milk. ...There's been morning where she doesn't wake up until noon and so then I just change her daiper and give her lunch.
If it's healthy, I don't care. They can eat it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, what ever. These guys usually just eat cereal for breakfast, but we'll occasionally break out the veggie stir-fry or the meat left over from dinner the night before and dig in for breakfast. I don't see anything wrong with it.
I don't think eating dinner type foods once in a while is a big deal or bad, the whole well it's better then them not eating is Bologna because if you provide decent food they WILL eventually eat, some people seem to think children wil starve themselves. Children do need a semi decent breakfast so if your baby/ toddler is eating pizza and nuggets every morning you need to step back look at the problem. There are convenient things for breakfast
We don't eat typical breakfast foods anyway. I have been known to make breakfast pizza, quiche, bean tacos, fruit salad, or grilled cheese & soup for breakfast. The only time we have convenient breakfast foods is if they ask, which is rare.
i don't think it is that big of a deal...there are people that don't feed their children! my daughter didn't eat anything i made for breakfast and has only had crackers to eat. pizza would have at least filled her tummy! lol. i don't have time to plan out every meal or always make sure my child eats an extremely well-balanced diet.
