I managed to do some long-overdue (by about 3 years) organizing this past weekend, and I discovered that I still have mounds of baby stuff taking up space around the house. Did you know there's a great group here called Baby & Kid Exchange--Free to $5 Only, where you can find a new home for your unwanted clothing, toys, and gear?
For instance, one of our moms is looking for Avent bottles and another is looking for anything you might care to donate for her pregnant sister-in-law.
As far as those things that are too worn or soiled to give away, I've found that old burp cloths make excellent dust rags, and old plastic baby bottles are great for organizing nails and screws. Do you have any suggestions for repurposing other types of infant accessories?

I let my daughter use some of her smaller baby blankets to play mommy with her baby dolls. Any premie or newborn clothes are good for their baby dolls too.
For my friend's baby shower, she welcomed gently used items from other moms. It's not only thrifty, but eco-friendly. Some moms hate to give away items and I've heard of some of the clothes, like the first onesie, being made into a stuffed animals.
My three best friends and I have passed around clothes, bottles, a breast pump, car seats, baby gear and mommy books on sleep and soothing. We have saved ourselves thousands of dollars, and sharing these special items and moments makes us feel great, too.
MY sister took pieces of old clothes and made it into a blanket! I love hand me downs I have 3 different family members who have young boys and get everything from boots to coats shoes boy have we saved money.
Anything you don't feel like shipping can be given away on your local Freecycle too!
There are stores here called "Once upon a child" that will pay you for your gently used baby clothes, toys furniture and accessories. That way you can clean out and get a lil extra cash to help out. Or you can so a store credit and get some thing the lil one needs now.
ok well i have not done this not that there is anything wrong about it. i know a few moms that have made cloth ofcorse reuseable dipers out of the old receiving blankets. how cool is that right.
I have a cafemom group that I thought is a great way to re-purpose baby stuff :)
