Scary Surveillance Video of Toddler Almost Drowning All Moms Need to See (WATCH)

kid jumping by waterA tragic disaster is something none of us ever wants to pay witness to. But sometimes it's absolutely necessary to scare us into making changes that can preempt another horrible incident from occurring. That's exactly what Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokesman Arnold Piedrahita believes -- and the reason why he recently shared surveillance footage of a toddler almost drowning.

Still, seeing the upsetting incident unfold is gut-wrenching, really almost unbearable to watch, but considering that drowning is the leading cause of injury-related death among children 1 to 4 years old, it also serves as a wake-up call. Watch below ...

Piedrahita said when posting the clip on Facebook that if it "scares someone enough to install a pool gate, then my job is done." While fear isn't necessarily the best way to get through to people, I'm guessing this video will certainly have as powerful an effect as Piedrahita hoped. With hope, it ends up saving other children from facing similarly harrowing, life-threatening circumstances.

What safety measures have you taken to protect your children from drowning?

Holy crap.  I know he is ok, but I didn't breathe the entire time I watched that.  That was awful.

That was hard to watch. Thank God someone found him before it was much too late and shame on the person who wasn't watching him.

That was a horrible, horrible thing to watch!! AND the person just drops the baby to the ground before picking them up?? Its not a fucking toy that dropped in there! That poor baby should've been instantly cuddled/consoled. This video is a PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY STUPID PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BREED! its pretty sad if you have to pass an intelligence exam to have a baby nowadays *SMH* WHAT THE HELL IS THIS WORLD COMING TOO???

It would be nice if the stir had included what happened to the little girl afterwards.

That was awful. The news are saying that the woman that pulled this little girl out was a nurse who proceeded to administer CPR. The little wandered from her mother who was sitting at the mall playground. Mom was supposed to be watching her but I guess she got distracted. Now this girl can't walk or feed herself. Very sad.

That was hard to watch then when she was pulled out and dropped. Poor baby. She has a FB page called Alayna's angels.

This story leaves a lot out. If you read about the incident on the news it says the mom lost sight of her in the playground and immediately tried to find her. She was going store to store looking for the girl when she fell in the fountain. She wasn't just ignoring her. She was looking in the wrong place.

Also, the little girl suffered brain damage and needs to learn to walk, talk, and eat again. The mom is a single mom and can't afford most of the therapy as she was out of work for the 3 months the girl was in the hospital. So she's asking for donations...

If you want to help out you can contact or the family through their facebook page Alayna's Angels:

i question the person that filmed this for over 2 minutes and did nothing but post it to youtube !! How about you put your phone down and go get the child, alert someone, SOMETHING BEFORE the baby falls in !!!!
