Mom Could Lose Custody of 3-Year-Old for Giving Him What He Needed to Put Leukemia in Remission (VIDEO)

Landon Riddle

A mom in Colorado is being investigated by child protective services, all because she has chosen to treat her 3-year-old's cancer with marijuana instead of continuing chemotherapy.

Eight months ago, Landon Riddle was so horribly ill from the chemo being used to battle his leukemia that his mom Sierra says he would "vomit 50 times a day" and was in so much pain she believed it was literally killing him. And that's when she made the decision to stop the chemo altogether.

Sierra moved Landon to Colorado Springs and started him on a treatment of cannabis capsules. And as you will see in this video, Landon went from being a lethargic, sick kid to a child who has boundless energy -- and whose cancer is now in remission.

I'm sorry -- I'm all for parents making sure their kids get proper medical care, but I can't for the life of me see how this mother is doing anything wrong, especially considering how much her little boy's health has improved as a result of the cannabis.

The video footage of Landon now compared with how sickly he looked in those photos taken eight months ago really speaks for itself. I just don't understand how anyone can accuse Sierra of not having his best interests at heart.

She's doing everything in her power to keep using a treatment that actually works to make her child better instead of filling his little body with so much poison that he might not even have the strength to survive his cancer battle.

As a parent, there is absolutely nothing worse than seeing your child sick and in pain and feeling absolutely powerless to help him. But Sierra did find a way to help Landon recover -- so who cares what kind of "medicine" he's taking if it's something that's proven to be so incredibly effective?

I'm not condoning recreational marijuana use by any means -- but this is medical marijuana. It's different. And if my son were the one battling leukemia and we tried medical marijuana and it worked? I'd fight tooth and nail to make sure he was able to continue the treatment. I'd sure as hell do everything possible to make sure that no one would take him away from me, which is exactly what Sierra is doing.

This is a mother who is doing her best to take care of her child -- period. And how anyone can look at that thriving little boy and not agree that she did the right thing, 100 percent, is just beyond me.

Do you think Sierra should be forced to put Landon back on chemotherapy?

Good for her. Chemotherapy can be deadly. I personally know of one man who died one month into cancer treatment from the chemotherapy and not from the cancer itself. It is the age old debate that doctors and pateints must face every day. Do the benefits outweigh the risks. This mother knew that, for her son, the benefits of chemotherapy did not outweigh the risks.

Having studied the effects that treatment with cannabis can have on a number of ailments (from infections to cancer) it boggles my mind that the medical community has continued to refuse to admit the health benefits of this particular herb. For example: cannabinoids have been found to actually reverse the growth of cancerous tumors (here is a link to the actual medical study: http://www.brainlife.org/reprint/blazquez_200303.pdf)

The demonization of cannabis is very ironic when you consider the amount of chemicals our medical commuinty prescribe daily that are touted as being "safe" and "beneficial" and come with a long list of negative side effects and possible consequences. The pain medication Oxycontin, for example, warns that it could cause: respiratory depression, postural hypotension, nervous system disorders, impotence, and death.

There are more and more stories.emerging of people treating themselves with marijuana successfully. I find it encouraging, but I have a sneaky suspicion that big pharmacy is going to try their best to snuff this spark before it starts a wildfire.

She shoukd not loose custody. And everyone.....the weed did not put this leukemia into remission...the chemo he had already been giving, along with other meds likely did this. The stir is being irresponsible with their reporting again.

Adamat, cannabis does in fact shrink tumors. It is not just for symptoms and side effects. Look it up.

Adamat:

A) Read the original article.

B) Read the links to studies that have shown that cannabinoids in marijuana reduce the size of cancerous tumors.

C) Proof read what you type. It is hard to consider the opinion of a poster to be an educated opinion when they spell "lose" as "loose", start sentences with a conjunction, don't correctly use an ellipsis, use the wrong tense of the word "give", don't place commas in the correct places, and then, after all of that, attack the professional writer for being irresponsible by insinuating they are passing on uneducated information. I'm just sayin'.

I will back her 100%. Her son has made a tremendous turn around and I do not see what the big problem is here. Child Services needs to back off and let her be a mother to her son. She is obviously doing what is best for him and there are many parents out there that Child services needs to focus on, this mother is not one of them!

I would do the same thing for my child, more power to her, and for those of you that judge, go @#$!@#$$%# yourselves!!!!

Good for her! Whatever works is what you do and shame on CPS for trying to force this and threatening her.
