David Beckham is one of the most successful, handsome, rich, and popular athletes in the world. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have problems. And his little girl Harper growing up and wanting to date men is one of them! David reportedly told The Sun about his little muffin dating one day:
Absolutely not. She's not going out. She's going to be like Rapunzel -- up in the tower. To have a daughter is a whole different story. I'm not saying I love my daughter more, but the boys are independent.
I can only imagine what a future Harper suitor is going to have to deal with -- can you imagine some gangly teen boy coming face to face with Becks on Harper patrol
Harper will not only have a protective dad, but three (presumably) protective brothers. Sheesh, I really wouldn't want to be a boy with a Harper crush. That's one hell of a wall of manhood to have to crash.
So I personally think the whole protective dad thing is cute -- since I never had to deal with one. I would have loved to have had some manly dad looking out for me. Chasing down boys who broke my heart. Staring down dudes and demanding, "What are your intentions with my daughter?" My father is not this way at all.
But I wonder what it's really like, as opposed to the naive ideal. Possibly a royal pain to deal with. And let's face it, some crazy dads take it way too far. Some take it so far as to kill their own daughters if they dare besmirch the "honor" of the family by dating the wrong boy.
I don't think we have to worry about that with Becks. In my unverifiable fantasy scenario, Harper doesn't come down from her bedroom until Becks and her suitor du soir have had a nice sitdown in the living room. And Becks offers Harper's date a glass of milk, looks him dead in the eye, and murmurs something like, "Do you remember that strike against Greece in 2001? That'll be your head if you mess with my daughter."
Oooohhh. So hot. (That's not my main Becks fantasy, by the way, but the only one I'll share here.)
Are protective dads hot or not?
