Of all the moms on MTV's Teen Mom, Farrah Abraham was one of the good ones. Which is why her arrest Monday night for alleged drunk driving is so distressing. Luckily, her daughter Sophia wasn't in the car with her when Abraham was pulled over at 1 a.m. after allegedly hanging a wide turn and nearly hitting a police cruiser.
If this is true, then Farrah has become no better than Jenelle Evans or Amber Portwood, right? I mean, we EXPECT this crap from them, but Farrah? She seems to have it all together. But let's just hang on a minute there, shall we?
No one can or should or even would defend drunk driving. It's indefensible and she could have killed herself or someone else. But her daughter wasn't in the car and she is 21. It's a mistake a lot of people make. Does this make her a bad mom? I say no.
Sorry, but in the world of teen motherhood, there are much greater offenses committed every single day. She is already ahead of the curve just by not having Sophia in the car!

Maybe my expectations are low. And I will admit, this is disappointing. Farrah (and everyone else) should know better than to drink and then get behind the wheel of a car. It's a bad, stupid move.
But the reality is, people do it every single day. Smart people. People who should know better. Farrah made a dumb mistake, but that doesn't make her a bad mom or a terrible person.
So let's not all get out our pitchforks just yet. This is a HUGE mistake, but I do think Farrah can learn from it. It doesn't have to be any worse than it is. She is allowed to make a dumb mistake.
Do you think Farrah is a bad mom because of this?

Driving while texting and even talking on the phone has been proven to be just as dangerous as driving while drunk so I hope that everyone who is passing their judgement isn't guilty of that. No one is perfect, I am sure we have all done something in our life that we are not proud of but don't consider ourselves bad mothers over it.
Not trying to defend this girl in anyway but I also live in Iowa, (other side of the state) but at least in my town there isn't much else for young people to do beyond going to the bars. I know this because I don't like to drink so I really don't do much. But I would say at least 50% of the people I know have had an OWI and there are even well respected business people that have multiple offenses. Again not saying its right in any way but lay off the girl a bit she's only a product of her environment.
@Common Sense taking the children away from someone with OWI offense will hurt the children more than anybody. Anyone who justifies the punishment of children for their parents offense is nothing short of cruel.
