18-Month-Old Snowboarder Is Like Shaun White With a Binky (VIDEO)

by Jacqueline Burt on January 3, 2013 at 11:12 PM

toddler snowboardIt's been awhile since my kids were toddlers, but if memory serves, the motor skill development milestones they were expected to hit by 18 months were along the lines of building block towers and scribbling with crayons and maybe climbing up onto chairs without falling off, or at least without falling off every time. Of course all kids learn and grow at their own pace and all of that, but there's one skill I'm absolutely positive I never ever saw listed under the "18 months" header in any of those parenting books, not even with a little "advanced" asterisk next to it, and that is ... snowboarding. Obviously, right? As if any 18-month-old could really and truly snowboard.

Besides this 18-month-old snowboarding whiz, of course.

Nope, I'm not kidding. 18-month-old Nevek, who lives in Montreal, can snowboard like nobody's business. Are you getting this?! He can't talk yet, but he can snowboard. Which he prefers to do with a binky in his mouth. Oh my god, the cute is going to kill me!!!

You've got to see it to believe it, I'm telling you. His little goggles! And that helmet!!! I love this baby, I love him to bits!! (And, by the way, his dad is with him the whole time and Nevek seems perfectly safe so no need to worry all over the adorable-ness.)

Check out this video below and tell us ...

Have you ever seen anything so cute in your entire life?

The video was cute, but the child is a far cry from a "snowboarding whiz".  He is just a baby strapped to a snowboard, sliding down a little slop.  Half the time he was not even looking in the direction he was heading.

I worry about other people hitting him on the slope :( With his size, he really does not have to do much to stay upright. Seems more like a publicity stunt for the parents rather than a fun and healthy activity for him.

well honestly with all the gear and the bindings he probably can't help but stand upright lol. But I didn't know they made boards that small! I thought I had to wait til my kids were at least 4 to take them with me so I haven't been in a long while. Although I may teach them more in my own yard at that young incase anyone ever hit them. Its hard to avoid people on the slopes sometimes

Mitchell and MM, have you ever snowboarded? The first 5x I tried it, I was on my butt more than 'sliding down a little slope' and I was 21 with years experience of being upright! Publicity stunt? It's refreshing to see parents show their interests (especially physical/outdoor interests) to their kids rather than stick them in front of the tv.

You go little guy! Can't wait to see you in the 2028 Olympics!

I think it's adorable, especially with the pacifier--even though for safety reasons, I think the binky should probably be left behind. Sure, he's not fantastic, but he's out in the great outdoors instead of parked in front of a television or computer screen and that's what matters!
