Superhero Window Washers Thrill Sick Children in Hospital (VIDEO)

Inspiring 16

Spider-ManTalk about true superheroes. In Memphis some children lying sick in the hospital recently got one amazing surprise. Amidst the drone of monitors beeping and painful blood draws, there were Spider-Man and Captain America right there before their very eyes, scaling the hospital.

According to ABC, the awesome surprise was the work of the company that cleans the hospital's windows, American National Skyline. They wanted to put some cheer in the young patients' days, and so they donned the superhero outfits and got to work.

To say the kids (and their parents) were delighted is a massive understatement. Check out the video after the jump.

What a simple and amazing way to brighten the day of some kids whose days surely need brightening.

Steve Oszaniec, who has worked for the company for 23 years, told ABC: “The kids always come up to the window and ask us, 'Are you Spider-Man?' So I came up with the idea of, ‘Why don’t we just show up as Spider-Man?’”

Why not, indeed.

Besides the three months after my son was born prematurely, neither of my children has spent any time in the hospital, but I can only imagine what a frightening and lonely place it has to be for them. While their friends are off at school and soccer games, there they are stuck in a room with only a window's view of the world. So to put a little wow in that window is a pretty special thing.

Do you love this idea?

I was born with quite a few heart problems that left me in a children's hospital from the age of 6 until 7. I would have loved this! There is nothing more depressing than meeting new friends at that age and watching them slowly fade from their disease/disability. Seeing spiderman or some other superhero would have been thrilling for all of us kids and taken our minds off of what was going on around us. This is such a great idea!

I saw a meme on facebook a few weeks ago but I wasn't sure if it was real. I'm glad to see that it is. That's very sweet that they would take the time out of their day to do that for the kids.

My sorority at Ole Miss does philanthropy for Le Bonheur, and this just made my day! The kids at that hospital are all amazing and beautiful little warriors; they deserve all the fun they can get!
