Mason Disick Holding Kim Kardashian's Cat Is Photographic Evidence Kids Need Pets (PHOTO)

Awww!
What do you get when you combine Kourtney Kardashian's oldest child, Mason Disick, and the cutest kitten who's ever walked the Earth -- Kim's new pet, Mercy? A squee-worthy moment if there ever was one, and insides that most likely just turned to faerie dust. Or purple unicorn poop. Or frozen yogurt.

Moms and dads who are vehemently against pets -- sorry, but this adorable little face is photographic proof that sometimes you have to bite the bullet and buy your kids an animal.

Are pets a lot of work? Yes. Are they another expense? Yes. Are they messy and stinky and bring all sorts of weird crap into your house? Yes. But you know what else does? Kids! Just think about how much easier and cheaper and cleaner your life was before you started having babies. Now think about how much better your life is with them.

No, I don't think pets are the same thing as children. And no, I don't think parents should buy their kids every single thing they want, turning them into spoiled brats. But I do think if your child asks for a pet for a long time -- and you see how much joy animals bring him or her -- it might be cause for a trip to the shelter. Or at least the fish section at Petco.

As I've recently learned, once you become a parent, it isn't about you anymore. Your times of going out on a whim, sleeping in, and a clean house are ov-ah. It's all about the littles. For a while at least. And, like I said, it's a good thing, because look how much joy they bring you. So, why not just buy them the damn dog already?

Did you get a pet for your kid?

You should change 'buy' to 'adopt'.

If you can't even be bothered getting your kids hair cut then chances are you don't have the time or energy for a pet.

rhondaveggie  - why am i always shocked when your comments turn out to be judgemental? they're never anything but. seriously, some people don't mind their little boys having longer hair. he looks adorable if you ask me. and i guarantee that mason's parents could care less what either of us think about his hair. geez.

back to the actual story - my daughter has been BEGGING for a dog. i would love to get one for her, but we won't get one until we're out of an apartment. i work 40+ hours a week, and i think it'd be incredibly selfish of me to keep a dog locked in a kennel or even in the bathroom, for that long. once we get a house with a backyard, where the dog can run, etc. i think it will be a good time to get a pet.

What a cute kid!! he does look delighted to be holding the kitten.

Pets are good for kids, but I think several things must be considered before adpoting or purchasing one, like walking schedules, vet visits, COST, the size of your  home/appartment, age of the child, just to name a few.   Mine has a chihuahua, who oftens goes without food because she forgets to check the food and water bowls, 2 goldfish and a turtle. Getting the dog was a famili decision and it has turned out very nicely, that little thing is so loving, and has adapted well to being alone at home until we get back from work.

who could look at either of those adorable faces and see something ugly?  that boy is adorable, and the kitten is precious.  it's enough to melt my uterus into a disgusting pile of goo.  luckily, i had it removed a few years back.  lol.  STILL.  ADORABLE AND PRECIOUS.
