5 Outrageous Excuses Parents Give for Leaving Kids Home Alone (PHOTOS)

sex shoes You would think people would know by now that leaving young children home alone is not okay. Toddlers simply can't be trusted, and if you want to at least attempt to keep them safe and alive and prevent your home from being destroyed you better find a babysitter or take them where you're going.

Still, nearly every day in cities and towns across the country, people leave their small children behind while they go off and do whatever they do. Frighteningly, most  of them probably don't get caught, and just get lucky. Those who do get caught typically don't offer up apologies but excuses -- really lame excuses. Here are five of the most outrageous ones people have given for leaving toddlers home alone.

What's the most ridiculous reason you've ever heard for someone leaving a young child home alone?

To Play Kickball

Yep, it really happened in Hendersonville, Tenn., earlier this month. James Meadows, 48, had a kickball game, so he left his 14-month-old child home alone, thinking his wife would be there soon. Only problem was she was out driving around drunk, and they both got busted.

This artcle reminds me of when a talk show claims to be showing a new episode when it's really showing "highlights" of past episodes,a fancy word for repeats. This article is nothing new. It's a synopsis of some past "Stir" articles! I feel cheated!

I don't even leave my 15 month old son in the house alone while I walk the 50 feet from our front door to our mailbox to get the mail.  I usually take him with me, wait until my husband's home OR get the mail during the time each day that we spend outside.   I simply cannot imagine leaving him home alone while I did errands or whatever.

Ridiculous! BTW, Stir...NO ONE likes these psuedo slide shows. Either make it a real slide show (where the whole page doesnt have relaod for each pic) or PLEASE just put them in an article together!

I don't even take a shower when I'm the only adult in the house with my kids--I wait until my husband gets home or until they go to school. I cannot fathom these people's reasoning.

How can they do that?  I would be besides myself with worry pulling out of the driveway much less going anywhere. I actually have nightmares about leaving my baby naping while I go back to my old job... I am in a panic the entire time trying to leave and get back home to her before she wakes up and realizes she is alone.
