Ashlee Simpson's 3-year-old son Bronx has the most adorably long locks. Though, I have no doubt the mom is getting flack for letting her little boy's hair get so long.
My son has super curly hair too. It fell in the cutest ringlets at his shoulders and not everyone was a fan. Some friends, family members, and even friends of family members would say, "Oh you should cut his hair," "He looks like a girl," or ask in a judgemental tone, "When are you going to cut that child's hair?" In their mind, long hair was FOR GIRLS ONLY.
PLEASE! This isn't the 1950s. Yet there are message boards dedicated to debating this issue. I just don't understand why it is anyone's business but that mom's. Besides, why can't boys sport long locks. Those that do aren't any less social, playful, or smart. It has nothing to do with behavior or intelligence.

I will admit, I eventually relented and chopped off his hair after he turned 2, but it wasn't because of those old-fashioned nags. The longer it got, the more difficult those coarse curls were to manage. And I did want to see what his little face looked like without the wild mane. But I hope Ashlee doesn't snip her kid's ultra cool coif. Just like with adults, it can definitely add to a kid's personality and presence.
Do you think Ashlee should cut her son's hair?

i think it def fits him. it's cute and i hope she doesn't cut it. i love the curls
Yes!!! Long hair on littel boys or even men is crazy! Moms neeed to get over thier boys "beautiful" hair and cut it like a boys hair should look. I think its just thier way to live out havign a littel girl but if that is the case than they just need to try for a girl!! Quit destroying your boy becuase of your selfishness. Hes gonna hate it when you show pics of him later in life.
My rule is that as long as the child is taking care of it or letting the parents take care of it (with younger ones) then it is THEIR choice what to do with their hair. I have a boy and a girl and my boy did not get his first hair cut until he was 3 and it was long and curly like the one in the pic above. He asked for it to be cut so we did. He does keep it short now at 7 years old, but that is because HE wants to. My girls hair has never had anything but a trim of the split ends and she is 5 years old. She has beautiful long curls that she mostly takes care of and asks for help if she needs it and gladly lets me comb it for her.
Why does anyone care?? And how stupid to assume a child is a girl just because they have long hair. Also, if your child every makes the comment "Mommy, only girls have ponytails" that is a parenting fail. Why does your child think that? If you didn't teach them that, then you should certainly correct them and if you did, how closed minded of you.
I don't like long hair on a boy, but would never tell someone to cut their hair or their kid's hair. I think if you're that preoccupied with how someone else's hair looks, you need a hobby, pronto.
I think she should keep his beautiful curls for as long as she can! my brother and I have poker straight haor and I always wanted curls :P And as a side note: for those silly people who teach their kids that boys must always have short hair and should never have it long enough for a ponytail, get off your high horses! It's people like you teaching theor children the same close minded BS your parents taught you and their parents tasught them that makes today's society as rediculous as it it. It's none of your bloody business if a boy has long/short/colored whatever hair, thats up to the parents and the kid NOT YOU. People are so intolerant of anything that doesn't fit into their minds picture of how $hit should be.
continued: also, my hair grew very slowly when I was a baby and my Mom's favorite color is blue so guess what? I had short poker straight hair in frilly blue dresses including tights and pretty strappy shoes and people still kept telling her what a cute little boy she had! They only paid attention to the color I was wearing, not the fact that I was wearing a freakin' dress. wound up having peirced ears as soon as someone would pierce them because of that,,,, bottom line. it is NOONE'S business if she keeps his hair as it is, it might be windy or something as to why it looks a bit disheveled, better he looks a little mussed than looking like a little sheep. :)
Leave it be.
