The latest Mom vs. Man give me a headache, literally. Hunter and Natalie were an attractive couple minding their own business when host Lauren O'Quinn cornered them in a public space and asked Hunter to do the unthinkable. Put Natalie's hair in a pretty, pretty dance recital bun in less that 60 seconds. OH NO! Does it really have to be PRETTY pretty? Because I'm predicting this is going to get pretty ugly pretty fast.
Well I'll give Hunter credit for knowing what a bun is. Many guys would have been stumped right then and there. But he has some vague idea that it's kind of like a ponytail, only with the hair kind of bundled up into a ball. And... ah.... you're supposed to do something with the hairpins?
Don't you love the way he spins that sloppy way he neglected to scoop all of Natalie's hair up? That's the new trend! Sloppy strands of hair on either side that make it look like your boyfriend did your hair in 60 seconds in the dark.
But if this had been his little daughter, right before a dance recital? OMG, the tears! Not only did he probably pull little tender hairs, he also failed to pull off a regulation little girl bun. Which would have resulted in a refuse-to-perform tantrum. Which would have ruined everyone's night. Let's just hope that if Natalie and Hunter ever get together and make a ballerina of their own Hunter puts some hair-do practice in before his big moment.
How long does it take to put your daughter's hair in a bun -- or do you avoid that at all costs?

I'm sorry but if my daughter were to have hair anything like mine it would take AT LEAST 5 minutes to make a decent ballerina bun.
i'm not terribly fond of mom vs. man. they're funny but she emasculates men. sure, most men can't do what most of us moms do on a daily basis. but then again most moms can't lift heavy things and fix things around the house like our men do. there's dads who can make a ballerina bun and moms who are handy with a wrench. so what's with this sexist show? how about you pull a random woman off the street to compete aginst the man? make it a little more fair.
By the way, my boyfriend could TOTALLY put my hair in a bun in 60 seconds. i have him play with my hair all the time cuz it puts me to sleep. :)
I can't even put my own long hair into a bun... but then I never need to. A ponytail does enough to keep it out of the way when I need it to be.
Wow, it's almost like being able to put someone's hair in a bun is completely subjective as a useful life skill.
I can't really do hair, the best I can manage is to get it brushed. What can I say, hair isn't my thing. My wife does simple braids, she could probably do a bun, but we never put it to the test because our daughters weren't into dance. My elder daughter is the one who can do hair, I swear she knows six different types of braids. This doesn't make the man in this week's challenge in any way inferior, it just means he has different skills.
Our first two children were girls, so I told my husband that he had to learn to braid hair--he was a dad with two daughters. After awhile, his artistic abilities were channeled into hair and he was so creative-way more than I was!
