Well this photo will look awfully familiar to those of us with little boys: Maci Bookout's 3-year-old son Bentley peeing the bushes. By the garbage cans, naturally. Maci tweeted the image with the caption, "classy..." A-yup, yup, yup, peeing in public: It's a male's prerogative the boys learn early. (And by the way, that photo is adorbs.)
Have you been there? Like potty training isn't hard enough. Once they figure out how easy it is to whip Peter out and water some flowers, there's almost no stopping them! Go indoors and use a toilet? WHY.
Why?!? Because that's what civilized people do!
Whatever. Being civilized is so not a priority to most 3-year-olds. In my neighborhood there have been long, angry debates over whether you should allow your child to pee in public. I admit, I've let my son take a discreet whizz in public a time or two when we were nowhere near toilets and he was about to have an accident. That was when he was still learning.
But I feel like once you open the door to public pee pee, it's so hard to close it! I mean, I think a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do. And really, it's not THAT big a deal when they're so little. But once you let them do it a time or two, it just becomes too easy to resist. Next thing you know, you turn around and there he is again, hosing down your roses.
Does it help to say they do eventually grow out of it? At least my son did. He hit a modesty phase, a phase I'm treasuring. Suddenly the idea of peeing in public just became SO EMBARRASSING. Where did this sudden sense of propriety come from? It's wonderful! I hope it lasts his entire life.
So hang in there Maci and other moms. They don't pee in public forever. Well, most of them don't, anyway.
Does your kid ever pee in public? Do you think it's all right?

no way! Why would she tweet that!
Of course it's not child porn to us, but what would it be if it was found with a collection of other naked baby backsides?
While I'd prefer my kids not whip it out whenever they have to go, I have no problem with pulling off on the side of the road or letting them relieve themselves out in the woods. Of course I would be mortified if it happened in a public place (not necessarily my yard), but kids are kids, and when you gotta go, you gotta go. I'd rather have pee in my yard than pee on my kid's pants.
I have 3 boys (not counting my husband) and they all tend to pee outside when we are outside. I don't see anything wrong with it. Just the other day and the lake one of my boys had to pee, and the bathroom is a good hike from the lake, so he went to the nearest tree that didn't have people's things set out underneath it, and let it flow. My thought was, "Hey, at least he looked for a tree that wasn't being used by other people at the lake.." People peed outside for thousands of years before we had indoor plumbing. Get over it. As far as the picture taking, yeah it's cute for her to do it. Not so cute to share it on the internet. We all have those "cute" (to the parents) embarrassing little kid pictures in the tub, or running through the house naked as a little kid. You know the ones, that are in the photo album at your mom or grandma's homes, and you PRAY that they don't get shown to your significant other EVER... All moms are pretty guilty of taking those kinds of photos, because we see the cuteness of our kiddos in them. Most of us don't immediately tweet them or share them on facebook.
so classy ... NOT
lil' ones ( boys) peeing out side at times when there are no potties is one thing, but allowing them to do this all the time is NOT ok. This is known as "indecent exposure". It's not ok for any parent to allow their child to do this all the time, and if the father is doing this and teaching their children this, this is poor parenting.
That's a hilarious photo! I don't and I can't agree with that, but he is just a child. At this age, they always do what adults do.
