I recently came across a Jezebel.com blog of a woman proud to be a pot-smoking mom. She made sure her husband could watch the baby while she got blitzed on the balcony. Then it was back to playtime, which, to her, was a hell of a lot cooler to do when baked. She wrote:
I realized that she's like the funniest fucking person I've ever met. Anybody who thinks that weed makes parents ignore their children has clearly never been high around one.
I got all judgy at first. What kind of mom so brazenly flaunts a weed habit? She asks the hubby to pull diaper duty NOT because she needed to run an errand or take a much needed, and I'm sure deserved, break. Nope. This anti-Donna Reed wanted a time-out to toke up. WHAT??? This takes co-parenting to a whole new level, don't you think?

But as crazy as it is, that was actually the responsible thing to do. I mean, she could have just lit up in front of her kid. Plenty of parents do -- and not just the ones who use medical marijuana. There are even message boards debating whether it's okay to get high with the little ones watching.
It is illegal, of course, but marijuana is one of those drugs that a lot of people don't consider to be so wrong. I keep thinking about Chris Tucker's pot-obsessed character Smokey in Friday rationalizing, “Weed is from the earth. God put this here for me and you. Take advantage, man, take advantage.”
Ain't nothing wrong with smoking weed
As far as illegal drugs go, this mom could be doing something a lot worse, right? Even in my hometown they have an annual Hash Bash where people give speeches and rally for the legalization of marijuana. And just about everyone there has a blunt in hand or is trying to find one. To them it's worth the measly $25 fine to take a hit.
And this writer thinks smoking pot makes her a more attentive mom and a more tolerant wife.
I caught [my husband] trying to smash up garlic cloves with the end of some kind of broom handle instead of the Pampered Chef garlic press my aunt gave me at my wedding shower. See, that is exactly the kind of shit that would've irrationally pissed me off if I hadn't smoked. Instead, I just laughed.
Personally, I don't want to be that laid back. But if it works for her, who am I to judge. I just won't be scheduling any playdates at her house ... EVER!
What do you think? Is this mom crazy for thinking pot makes her a better parent?

then no one would be able to take prescribed medication floridamom, its no different. Ok wait, it is different, its safer and has far less side affects.
so long as daddy is the sober parent until the effects wear off I don't care - my problem is people who do it when there isn't anyone there - sorry but you need to have a level of alertness to watch a young child that just isn't there if you are stoned. Having said that I gave up pot 10 years before I had kids and I'm not tempted to go back
I personally have no problem with recreational use of marijuana. However, now that I'm pregnant, my boyfriend and I have agreed that we will not smoke pot when we are responsible for the kid. If we send our child to our parents' overnight, and are hanging out with friends, why not? But as long as we're responsible and something could happen to our child, we want to be alert and ready to be 100% there. Note however that this doesn't only apply to marijuana but also to alcohol. I have no objections to drinking, but if I am responsible for my child, I will refuse to have more than 1 or 2 glasses of wine over the course of a night.
Yes, marijuana is mild, but it does lower your state of alertness which I think is irresponsible when there are kids in the mix.
I have a friend who also thinks its a blast to get stoned and hang out with her son. She showed me a video they made together on her phone while she was baked, and it was disturbing. SHE thought it was hilarious...they were singing and dancing, but she was really just acting like an idiot. Her poor son was trying to smile, but also looked terrified, like he'd mouth the words "help me!" if he could.
I have no problem with weed, except that it's illegal. But doing it to make your kids more entertaining to you? Sick puppy.
Yes Pot is illegal in many states but some its legal because of medical reasons. Studies have shown that Pot helps people with serious mental illeness like Depression, Anxiety and such. And it has been proven that it helps cancer patients live longer :) So if this women decides to smoke up once in awhile to help ease her troubles as long as she being responisble with it then i dont see anything wrong with it. It's the same with having a beer or two once in awhile. PARENTS ESP MOMS should be able to have a little fun too...
Also, if I had to find a job, it would be close to impossible with dirty pee.
Lastly, I've spent enough time in my life high. Reality isn't so bad, now that I have someone to live for. I can't imagine talking to my 2year old high. That would make me feel like a POS.
