Is your head still spinning from that Time magazine breastfeeding cover? And that weird headline. (WTF!) But I'm also cracking up over the Twitter responses from other moms that I've seen so far.
One of my favorite mom tweets has to be this one from @KCzubek: "The text that SHOULD go with the controversial Time Magazine cover." And then she gives us her version of the Time mag cover, which reads: "Are you desperate to sell magazines?" Zing! Exactly, Kimberly.
The Stir's own Lindsay Ferrier says, "Is anyone else feeling sorry for the kid on the @Time magazine cover? His middle/high school years are now officially DOOMED." And Becky Hood replied, "So is his dating life. Therapists, though, are already counting their money. #mommyissues."
Alyssa Milano, a new mom herself, doesn't like how divisive the cover is. "Time, no! You missed the mark! You're supposed to be making it easier for breastfeeding moms. Your cover is exploitative & extreme."
Or as Libby Hoppe put it, "Oh, man this Time cover story is about to spark some major convos in the mommy circles. I'll grab the popcorn."
The Time cover is so bobbieliscious it got Alice Bradley lactating for whatever: "Nursing a three-year-old is extreme? I'll nurse anything. I just nursed a barn owl."
Anymommy replied, "You're not mom enough. I'll nurse a pterodactyl. I'll genetically engineer one from fossils AND THEN NURSE IT."
Alice: "I'M GOING TO NURSE MY TOASTER OVEN HERE I GO"
Kristen Chase is just outraged by the child's poor etiquette. "What kind of manners does that kid on the Time cover have? Who stands and eats?" "In our house, we sit and eat from our nipples."
And finally, this one about had me rolling on the floor. Another brilliant Stir contributor Linda Sharps says, "Yo Time I'm really happy for you but Game of Thrones had one of the best breastfeeding scenes of all time!" And then she posted this video below. BAM! I think we'll have to give her the last word.
Who do you think had the funniest Twitter response to the Time cover?

@ Ann Makros Your comment is sexualizing breasts and breastfeeding. Breasts' biological purpose is to feed babies/chidren. They are not inherantly sexual. Society has taught you that they are.
why does she have to pump? Why shouldn't it be on the cover of a magazine...SHE IS FEEDING HER CHILD NOT MOLESTING HIM you people freaking out have issues of your own...our children would all be healthier and better adjusted if Mothers were allowed to breast feed freely. No I do not think you are a bad Mom if you chose formula or had to use formula....as for the comment that Real Women Have Curves is an attack on skinny women...get an effing life...The real women have curve is in support of women who aren't board thin !! Breast feeding is a simply natural and beautiful thing...I know people who freak out when pregnant women wear bikini bras and show their bellies....it is just a body part people get over it!!
REALLY AMERICA???? A CHILD ONLY NEEDS TO BREAST FEED 6 MONTHS FOR A CHILD TO GET THE NUTRITION IT NEEDS,,,,,,, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH IT LOOKS CO-DEPENDENT.
Don't know why I am surprised by all the ignorant comments....
Unfortunately I agree in part that this cover does nothing to help bfing become more of a norm and not something that needs to be hidden.
Actually Dawn Jewett, the World Heath Organization recommends breast feeding until at least 2 years of age, and it is recommended in the US to breast feed until 1 year, not 6 months. You should do a bit of research. Formula is an alternative, and necessary for some, but will never come close to breast milk.
in my opinion, it's not about a mother breastfeeding a 3 year old ! i feel like a mother should parent however she wants with her own child, even if that meens breastfeeding a 3 year old. my issue with this cover is how its ON THE COVER ! this is wrong in so many ways ! no, i don't believe its wrong to breastfeed in a public place... i wouldn't, regardless of my childs age, but when i look at it i want to cringe ! it just seems private to me & something like this can be controversial & taken in the wrong way. a child can see this & not understand why a 3 yr old (possibly the same age as them) would be sucking on their mommies breast. it's just wrong to make SO public ! & that poor child, standing on a chair breastfeeding while a photographer takes pictures !!! either way, i feel its a private thing, not something for millions of people to stare at & judge ! it just adds points to the negative side for the breasfeeding in public debate. it sure doesn't help !
