Brad Pitt with Knox and ZaharaDisclaimer: I don't give my kids soda on a regular basis. I know it's bad for them and bad for me and bad for you and yada, yada, yada. That said, I loved Brad Pitt's recent -- hilariously candid -- corn syrup-y confession:
Listen, I admit there’s times like, "We gotta get up. Get up! Here’s your shoes. Here’s your shoes. Drink this Coke. Drink this Coca Cola. Drink it all. Right now! Drink it! Drink it! Drink it!" Just so we could get ‘em up and going.
Ha! Who hasn't been there?!?!
Oh, I know, I know -- boo, hiss. Only bad, bad daddies give their kids soda! (And caffeinated soda at that!)
Please. Parenting Police, call off your dogs.
Consider the facts. First of all, Pitt never said he gave his kids soda for breakfast every day of the week. He said there are "times." Times, which, if you think about the Jolie-Pitt family lifestyle, probably involve such challenging activities as getting six sleepy children to the airport for a 7 a.m. flight. Hey man, whatever works.
More from The Stir: Parenting Advice From Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie That Isn't Totally Crazy
Just look at this pic of Pitt leaving Tokyo's Haneda International Airport with 3-year-old Knox and 7-year-old Zahara in tow.
I can't say either kid looks to be on any kind of crazy sugar high. Knox is clearly in a daze (what he's dressed up as isn't as clear, but maybe a monster? Or a viking? With wings?). And Zahara? Whatever you're offering, Zahara is having none of it. Keep your distance -- girl's got a stuffed pink fluffy thing and she knows how to use it.
So Pitt sneaks the kids a carbonated beverage from time to time. So what? He's funny, honest, and completely engaged in the lives of his children.
Do you think it's a big deal for Brad Pitt to sneak his kids the occasional soda?

no, no big deal. it's not like he's giving it to them on a daily basis in a bottle like some kids I've seen walking (yes, walking!) around the town I live in.
Sometimes I drink coke to get up too lol.
My children will never have soda with a few exceptions, like their friends birthday parties. I don't want them to have it even then but I don't see long term harm in having it a couple of times a year. I think giving your children soda for breakfast even once is absurd. However, as far as "common parenting" goes these days, I suppose what he's doing is 'acceptable'.
I don't think it's any of our business how celebrities parent, or our place to judge.
