Teen Mom couple Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley aren't going to win any parenting awards any time soon. Amber, who struggles with depression and keeping her temper in check, can't seem to get herself on the right path, and Gary, well, the latest is that he's started a Twitter page for 2-year-old daughter Leah.
Even though Gary acknowledges that Leah has nothing to do with it, he says it's just a way for him to post photos of Leah and "tweets" from her, and that it's all in the name of fun.
Yeah. Because it has nothing to do with using Leah to get attention, and it's certainly 150 percent safe seeing as it's a public account on the Internet, and, yes, it's totally fine to have 4,150 strangers follow a cute toddler on Twitter and look at her photos. Yeah. This is a great idea.
Guys, am I overreacting here? I just can't think of one good reason to set up a public social-networking account for a 2-year-old. And it seems like Gary knows that this probably isn't the best idea, yet he's doing it anyway. He, of course, tweeted:
"I protect my daughter. This is for her sayings, things she's doing, etc. It's all me tweeting ...."
Then, Gary, I would suggest leaving Leah out of it. Go ahead, tweet all you want on your page, but don't do it under her name, her likeness, with her photos. The Internet is a scary place and I think the little ones should stay blind to it as long as they can.
I know first-hand that once something's on the Web, it's hard, if not impossible, for it to be erased. Leah's already going to read about her less-than-all-star parents on the Internet when she's older; it's a shame that with her father's account for her, she'll end up reading about herself, too.
Do you think Leah's twitter page is adorable or abhorable?

I actually agree with you to an extent. I do think he is doing it for attention. He can post pictures of her on his page if he wanted to just show pictures. That couple in general makes me sick and I feel really bad for Leah.
I think Twitter and Facebook accounts for kids are stupid and annoying. That being said, no I don't think it's a huge deal that he made one for Leah. She's already in the public eye and her pictures are in magazines all over the country. At least he's controlling what gets published about her on this page. I do think he's just doing it for attention, but I do think you're overreacting. When I see that a parent has created an account for their child, I think "Wow, that's completely dumb" not "OMG EVERYONE CAN SEE THEIR KIDS PICS OMG THIS IS DANGEROUS AAAAAAAAAHHH"
Glad he clarified since you know two-year-olds tweet ALL the time. I would never open an account for my kids. There are too many pervs. If I want to share photos with my family and friends I can do that without exposing my children to freaks.
What's the difference between him having an account for Leah to post pictures, talk about her day, new milestones and him using his OWN account to.....post pictures, talk about her day, new milestones.
You're implying that that would be better. I don't see the difference.
I don't think you are overreacting. And for those of you likening this to putting pictures up of ur kids on facebook....I hope your account is private. I'm sure it is. Well I hope it is. And in that case you are choosing who sees those pictures. Her page has 4,000 some followers....I def. think there is a difference between letting total strangers have access to pictures of your child and letting people that you know have access to your pictures. But, she has already been on TV quite a bit and as one commentor put it, this certainly is a good way to keep Leahs cutiness seperate from Garys drama.
I'm with Ashley. I wouldn't do this.
i don't understand. she's 2. she is not tweeting. how is this 'exposing' her? i suppose he should not allow her to play outdoors as well? so what if a creep is following her. unwhatever him. and if you don't know, so what? you can't control the thoughts of others.
I think it is cute :)
Over reaction. The same as his posting them to an account under his name.
