I'm not going to slam people who enjoy the weed. I live in California, where it could soon be legal and, quite frankly, I don't see the difference between marijuana and alcohol consumption -- from a legal stand point.
But people letting their toddlers smoke pot, teaching their toddlers to smoke pot, and leaving their kids in a car to smoke pot have got to go. Honestly. I'm done with these stories.
Here's another one.
We all know how leaving children alone in a car can kill them, right? This Long Island mom didn't get the news flash, or simply didn't care, as she left her toddler in the car for 40 minutes so she could go inside and get high.
We're not talking about another 18-year-old mom making a bad decision due to immaturity. Karen Edelmann is a 43-year-old woman who used the judgment of an impulsive 8-year-old when she left her little boy in the car. Luckily some neighbors were watching out for the poor kiddo and called the police.
When the police arrived they found the toddler -- alive, thank god -- and promptly arrested the mother for marijuana possession, endangering the welfare of a child, and resisting arrest. I wish there was something else they could throw in there just to drive both points home: Don't smoke pot for 40 minutes when you're about to get in a car and drive your toddler around, and don't EVER leave your child in a car. Maybe a big old stupidity law. Something?
Can you believe you're reading another pot story that involves a child?
