Photo from Yo Gabba GabbaYo Gabba Gabba is easily the trippiest show on toddler TV, so it's no surprise they're heading to Woodstock central to kick off their Party in My City Tour.
That's Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, to be precise, located in gorgeous Bethel, New York, which, despite widespread confusion, was home to that big ol' musical festival back in '69 (because the folks in the REAL Woodstock said no parties in the tummy or otherwise).
So why does this have me all atwitter?
For starters, I've heard nothing but good vibes about the show put on by DJ Lance Rock and his kooky crew from other parents. With all these new tour dates (they're starting at Bethel on August 27 and moving on for a long list), more than just my little Plex fan will get to indulge in the party.
And kids who make it to the shows will get lessons from the one and only Biz Markie on doing Biz's Beat of the Day.
Now on to the selfish -- they've chosen my backyard (almost literally) to start a North American tour.
So after years of seeing concerts at my favorite venue (albeit usually as a member of the press, working and therefore unable to take my kid along), I can finally share it with my daughter.
Photo from AmazonBecause there's nothing like taking your child along to one of your favorite haunts. And when it comes to the local concert venue -- a place that swells with the entire neighborhood in the summer (my Facebook page on a concert day is a virtual sea of "going to Bethel Woods tonight" status updates) -- you only get to do that when a kids' show is in town.
It might be enough to make me finally break down and buy the Dancey Dance hat my kid has been begging for ... for me. The orange shag would have fit right in back in '69.
We'll be hitting the show in our town -- but you tell us, what shows have you taken the kids to?
